Excellent facilities, comfy, all modern and brand new and had everything I needed for my stay. Superb location, quiet but just a short trip into town and was an excellent base for exploring Orkney. The lovely host Dorothy welcomed me when I arrived, and the locally made cheese, biscuits and shortbread were great!

Karrawa Guest House is set in the town of Kirkwall, less than 1 mile from the town centre and within 2.5 miles of the airport and ferry terminal. Fiona and Colin were brilliant hosts. The breakfasts are fresh and cooked to order, along with a wide selection of cereals and juices. Our room was spotless and roomy, with a big closet for hanging up rain-dampened clothes. It’s a 20-minute walk to the centre of Kirkwall, or a 6£ cab ride if you’re coming back from the pubs. There is ample parking on the property.

Royal Oak Guesthouse, a property with a shared lounge, is situated in Orkney, 2.2 km from Scapa Beach, 17 km from Maeshowe, as well as 19 km from Standing Stones of Stenness. Very friendly, welcoming host who was keen to help with advice about places to go, things to do and accommodate all our requests (eg Gluten free breakfast) with a cheerful disposition. The facilities were spotlessly clean and the location was ideally situated for our needs, although for others it might be a little too far out of the main centre of town. Having a safe space to park our car was also very much appreciated.

It's SPOTLESS and very comfortable, close to town and with a lovely view of the harbour from the upstairs window. Free Wi-fi, big TV + Netflix etc, laundry facilities and good firm mattresses. 2 good-sized bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. Parking outside the front door. Great position for exploring Orkney.
