This was the best accommodation on our NZ trip. Not only was it dead quiet, comfy beds and super fast Wi-Fi with great amenities, it had its own glow worm cave!

Offering outdoor baths, sea views, and excellent heating, Golden Bay Hideaway is a warm and private retreat in Wainui Bay, 17 mi from Takaka, at the northern end of the Abel Tasman Coastal Track. Gorgeous view in a secluded spot. Very close to Abel Tasman for hiking and you can contact the management for a ride to the park so you can hike back to the greenie. The kitchen is well equipped, beds are comfortable and bathroom very clean (a very nice composting toilet setup they've clearly honed in). The outdoor bathtub is a great treat and has hot water. You're a half hour outside Takaka so bring your provisions for the stay and enjoy the view.

Located in the Mangarakau Wetland, located 3 minutes from the beach, Wetland View Park features free WiFi, a garden and barbecue. Free private parking is available on site. The chalets were very comfortable and in a most amazing part of New Zealand. The hosts were simply superb and even took us for a night trip to see some local glow worms! Exploring down the coast to Anatori River and the local wetlands is very worthwhile. Night sky is like nothing you've ever seen. Excellent privacy. Access to the property requires driving on a narrow at times gravel road for some time, which is fine if you are used to it and careful. Caution is advised wrt to oncoming traffic.

Offering free WiFi and free on-site bus and car parking, Mohua Motels is located in Takaka. All accommodations offers a patio, fully equipped kitchenette and mountain and garden views. The motel manager accommodated well for our late arrival and organized breakfasts for us for our early departure the following morning. The communication was quick and helpful. The motel rooms are spotless, clean, and well taken care of. Our stay was a pleasant surprise.
