Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FranceQuite expensive.
The position of the hotel is very good: 10 minutes walk to the metro station and then one stop to Grand Central Station. The breakfast is very good and the room is big, nice and comfortable.

United States of AmericaI did not get the right amount of washcloths each day. Dirty plates were left in my room after cleaning service. My biggest issue was thinking the bed would be larger.
Breakfast was good and staff very friendly and helpful.

United States of AmericaThe loud music
There must have been a wedding or something going on and the music was loud and repetitive, although it was late in the afternoon we had planned on napping when we arrived at the hotel and before we went out for the night. This loud music made that impossible.

The room and balcony were lovely. Staff were incredibly helpful. Loved the location, great local (and more affordable) restaurants, cafes and bars nearby. As a tourist felt like an area people live in and enjoyed getting a window into what that might be like. 10/15 min walk to the subway, easy access to Matthatten and Brooklyn For new york and only booking a couple of months out this properly balanced not being insanely expensive with good reviews and location.

United States of AmericaPaper products- one ply toilet paper, bathroom dispenser towels as napkins, coffee cups that are too flimsy to hold coffee without double cupping. Cheapens the experience of an otherwise boutique hotel.
Design, location.

United States of AmericaThe restaurant inside the hotel The Lantern, was great service, clean, cute and it was a great /idea option to have paid for the breakfast service and it was of substance and not just a junk food breakfast however... we ordered a steak from the restaurant and it gave me a lot of trouble and one of the others who was with me. One person didn't eat the food from The Lantern and the 2 who did (including myself) became violently ill and I will leave precise details out but unfortunately I came there for the premiere of my film that was nominated at the Brooklyn film festival and I missed most of the night from falling ill after eating the hanger steak before going to the party. It was a very expensive trip and stay all to get a food borne illness... this makes me sad and disappointed. It wont keep me from choosing The Box House Hotel again I just wouldn't eat at the restaurant if I come back. We reported this to the front desk and was not offered a discount on the room or even a refund on the meal. I am hoping a manager reaches out to right the wrong.
The staff was exceptional so helpful, and kind and fun. Rooms were clean, comfortable and the terrace was awesome. we were 3 people and our suite with a terrace was awesome for us.

United States of Americathe main entrance door is very heavy an difficult to push open especially with luggage. There were also many staff members right inside the door way but it didn’t seem like anyone helped guests with holding the door or managing luggage through the difficult entrance.
The property was nice and comfortable the only thing that could be improved is the main entrance.

LatviaLoved the location, really nice, green street and neighbourghood, several groceries, coffee shops and food options nearby. Fairly well connected to public transport ( expect to walk a little bit for metro). The room itself was comfortable and big enough for 2 people. Welcoming staff. Would stay here again for sure!

United States of AmericaIf you are booking a weekend, check to see if there is a wedding scheduled. They have a large wedding business and it was very loud until past midnight making sleep difficult. Party guests do use a different elevator so security didn’t seem to be a problem. There is a beautiful roof top area which is only for weddings and cannot be accessed at other times by guests
The rooms were spacious, tastefully decorated and clean

United KingdomThe room itself felt dated. Light curtains didn’t keep out the light. Bed was comfy but linen not great and bed settee was requested to be made up but wasn’t. Took $250 per room on card security for 1 night which felt too high.
Location for Brooklyn was ok. Good for Le Gaurdia Airport. Breakfast was really good. Breakfast staff were nice. Gym was a bonus. Reception area nice. Felt safe.

United KingdomMy only compliant was they did not cater specifically for gluten free at breakfast despite advising before my trip. It was a case of eating what didn't contain gluten however the choice was quite good so I didn't go hungry.
The hotel is in a lovely tree lined street with lots of flowers bed but only half a mile from the subway. The view of Manhattan from our room which was spacious and comfortable was fantastic (Empire State and Chrysler Building). Loved having the option to use the hotel gym as well as running along the water front which is close by.

United States of AmericaOnly one minor nit…..the cable TV package in the room was absolutely the worse. In town for five days with the hometown NHL Rangers playing in the Conference finals and couldn’t even watch them. Got the PAC12, ACC, and Big10 Channels but not the MLB, NHL or NBA networks??!? And no network television at all. Truly horrible selections and package.
1) The area was ideal. First time in Greenpoint and it has a very safe, neighborly feel to it. Safe to walk around and park on the streets. 3-7 minute walk from bars and restaurants; 10-minute walk from nearest subway. 2) Staff was wonderful across the board. Mariah and Dave in the Brooklyn Lantern restaurant were phenomenal! 3) Rooms were comfortable and clean
