To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. United States of AmericaProperty was dirty and outdated. I was charged a security deposit that was not mentioned at booking. No breakfast. Had to chase down towels. Property was not clean. lampshades broken, walls need painting, Bedding needs upgrade and the pillows were dirty and flat. I was told I would have to wait 5-7 business days for deposit to be released IF the room was okay when checked. Room was dirty upon arrival, with no iron and two sets of towels when my reservation was for 4 people. There was no Bible or iron, so I do not know what they think someone would take. Walls need painting, there was a patched up hole in bathroom door, toilet was slow to flush...rising to the rim before receding. Bedding looked to be early 90s with holes burnt into comforters and under sheets. TV was small. Plugs for electronics did not work. One electrical socket was missing the cover for it. Hangers were all broken. At check in the man was rude when I asked why the price I was paying was not the same as what was quoted on Booking.com. He continued to talk over me and when I asked about the breakfast, he cut me off and said NO breakfast, Coffee only. The best part of our stay was seeing no bugs and checking out. I am still waiting on my $25 deposit to be returned. For the price of this stay there are better places with better customer service.
Did not see any bugs. Mini Fridge and microwave were clean and usable.

United States of AmericaThe staff was extremely rude. The 1st room was filthy beyond imagination, the 2nd room they moved me to was just as bad and filthy but had no other choice. Trash in room, holes in bedding, mildewed refrigerator not plugged in, floors not swept, sheets not clean, blood on bedding, and on floor I cannot believe that Booking.com has this deplorable place on their list.
Checking Out! That was absolutely the only thing I liked about my stay.

I had already driven 6.5 hours that day from my home to pick up a puppy the following day, only to arrive at the hotel around midnight and get zero sleep.

United States of AmericaThey come into the room unannounced. The manager knocked then proceeded to use HIS MASTER KEY to open up the door to ask me if I was extending my stay. I’m a single mother and I shouldn’t be paranoid about someone in management opening up my occupied room door to ask me if I’m staying. Then they TOLD ME that they were coming to clean my room and that I couldn’t decline that it needed to be done because they had no housekeeping for the weekend. I want my money back
