To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaWe didn't like that our tub was full of rust and dirty. All I wanted was a light shallow bath.. but the tub was full of rust and had visible black dirt.. We notified the night time staff and he brushed it under the rug as if we normally shower in Rusty dirty tubs.
I liked the breakfast.. I like how the morning staff treated our problem with concern unlike the night time staff.

United States of AmericaBack and side doors were not working with the key cards. Had to use front door, but there was ever only available parking spaces in the back. Also hotel room card keys would not work well at all. Had to swipe 10 times to get into room. Lastly, when we checked in, the front desk person gave two complimentary tickets for the breakfast buffet since the side and back doors were not working and I said well the hotel showed breakfast included anyway and he said no it isn't. Turns out he was wrong.
