To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaOriginally booked in a room with no AC. Reassigned to a new room that wasn’t clean or ready for check-in and it was 4pm. We had to lock our belongings in the car due to needing to leave and the room wasn’t ready. We never came back and got a room somewhere else.

United States of AmericaThe staff that made service they're all rude disrespectful belligerent you're not even allowed to have an Uber come pick you up on property without prior permission. And when an Uber driver does come on premises to pick you up they call the police and a tow truck.
There was absolutely nothing I liked about this trip Steph was very belligerent disrespectful.

United States of AmericaResurveyed my room a day ahead of time and they only take payments on site. Get there check in hand the guy my ID and cc. I sign on the line, he hands me my receipt, room keys and my CC and iD shows me where my room is and tells me to enjoy my stay. Early the next morning I was woken by a ringing room phone, no one on the other end. I can't get back to sleep so I get in the shower and get ready to head out early to start my long drive. Came out of the bathroom to get dressed and packed and noticed someone had tried to enter my room, thankfully I had it latched. About 10 minutes later comes a knock at the door yelling front desk. I open the door and ask how I can help the lady. She told me that I have to leave now, I was in the room illegally and the police will be called. I explained that I arrived yesterday afternoon and paid for the room when I arrived. She called me a liar and waived a check in invoice at me. I told her I was given one of them upon check in, it's in my car and I can grab it and head to the office. So after everyone that was still trying to sleep was woken by her calling me a thief and a liar and the police were going to arrest me, I packed up the car, grabbed my receipt and headed to the office. Turns out that her employee that checked me in made an input error, I was not at fault. I'm retired and do a great deal of traveling, of the 100s of places I've stayed, this is the only place I refuse to revisit and will definitely let others know that this hotel should be avoided.
