Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsI missed a place where I can 100% safe leave my passport and real valuables during my stay..with the staff or in a safety box. The neighbors from the opposite hostel can be loud.. It is good to bring earplugs so you keep street noise(there is not so much)out of your dreams. The door from the room I stayed could be made less sounding( for night toilet going in and out of the room).
Hostel Oliveira has a really nice atmosfere, with funny and beautiful vintage things, even in the kitchen. It makes you feel at home, everything feels relaxed and free( in a good way). There is a great rooftop area with yoga classes in the morning. The visitors are more adults than youngsters, so people in general, clean up behind themselves and conversations are nice on deeper topics. There is a living room, a place to hang out outside, The location is very centric, you can go everywhere from there, easy. There was a roll down screen on the window of my bedroom to be able to make the room dark and keep streetlights out... The staff are sweethearts, helpfull and loving, taking care is what they love to do..genuinely. They organize sometimes indoors parties, with life music and food. They even borrow you a parasol for the beach..! I was in a room with just three beds, which made it like a home.. They have in the kitchen a box or something like that for communal, free things, where people can put their food they cannot take with them..and others can use this..it s great!! They provide coffee, tea, Olive oil..etc. I really had a wonderful time there.Easy to connect with others..

BelgiumThis truly is a magical place and the way a hostel should be. They managed to create a very homely and cosy environment with multiple places to hang out. You can easily see that this place is created with love and has a soul and an own identity (in contrary to all those generic soulless hostels). With setting an environment like this they attract a crowd from many different backgrounds and a wide range of ages. You immediately feel home and welcome. It is very easy as a solo traveller to meet people here and feel part of the community. Yes, they succeed in one of the primary functions of a hostel for me, creating an openminded and welcoming community. This is certainly in my top ten hostels worldwide.

United KingdomThe street outside was a bit noisy at night so bring earplugs!
I had such a great time at this hostel. I love how they organise communal dinners on Sundays for €12 - they create a lovely atmosphere, which made so much difference to my time in Lagos as I spent my days with lovely hostel guests. The kitchen is cute like a family home, and always very clean, and the outdoor communal areas are beautiful - especially the roof terrace. The staff are lovely and helpful. The WiFi was working and the dorms are basic but totally fine!

United KingdomI stayed in the 4-person mixed dorm where the beds were very creaky. Whilst the hostel is definitely geared towards leisure travelers, I do not recommend it for digital nomads seeing as there are few calm spaces to work and the wifi was a bit patchy at times. There could be more bathrooms for the number of people in each room. However, these points were minor and I will definitely be back!
The place was very cozy and welcoming. The staff made every effort to create a fun space for people to socialize and relax in, organizing dinners, bonfires, games, etc. The outdoor areas (garden and rooftop) were definitely a great addition to the property. The house was decorated with a lot of taste, and the kitchen was well equipped. The hostel is in the heart of the old town and ideally located a stone throw's away from lots of cafés, restaurants, beaches, shops, etc.

CanadaThe location, the reception was in the back accessed by a long dark corridor. Climbing up the stairs every time was not convenient.
The room was quite spacious. close to the common washroom. The kitchen was efficient, with an attached balcony. The small courtyard in the main floor was nice for small get togethers. The staff maintained cleanliness to a great extent. very friendly, the interior was well decorated with pieces of artwork.
