Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaMaria is a very friendly host very helpful and even gave us a recommendation for dinner away from the touristy area. Dinner also was excellent (Restaurant Pereira). We wish we had planned to stay longer. Breakfast was very good, typical Portuguése fare and eggs made to order. The beds and linens were excellent. Lovely place!

We were made to feel so welcome during the entire stay. The staff were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The hotel has been beautifully restored and you feel as if you are staying in a friend’s home. Breakfast is varied and special GF things were bought especially. The hotel is in an excellent position within easy reach of museums, the port , restaurants and the town.

United States of AmericaUnfortunately, the day we arrived the elevator had issues so I was unavailable for our use. Not a big deal since we were only on the second floor, also air conditioning did not work in any of the rooms, but again not a big deal because it was cool enough to open the windows And have fresh air.
The staff, location and great breakfast werethe highlights. Beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were very clean and large. It was a large property, with a victorian type setting, and different rooms you could use to perhaps have a glass of wine at the end of the day.

United KingdomWonderful Chalet, in the centre of Cascais a beautiful seaside town just 40 minutes from Lisbon. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed reading in the study, lounging by the pool and inviting friends over to sit in the garden. Maria and the staff could not have been more attentive, we were really impressed at their local restaurant and activity recommendations as well as their 5* service. Parking was a bonus and breakfast was super tasty. We plan to be back, and so do the friends that visited us!

United KingdomThe property is absolutely beautiful with 19th century wood panelling and beautiful art work but what makes it most special is that it is a family home, and one that you are made to feel totally welcome in, like it is your own home. The breakfasts are delicious, with both continental, fresh fruit and egg options. The location is handy for the main sights of Cascais, and yet peaceful, and the rooms clean and comfy. The host booked a nice restaurant for us our first night and walked us to it, as we had to be there quickly. We were ill while staying at the hotel and our hosts did everything to help us, getting foods that would help, going to the pharmacy, and offering another room until our departure even after we’d checked out. I have never stayed anywhere so holistically lovely and I can not recommend it more highly.

IrelandThis is a very unique property both in its environment and the ambiance created by the hosts. It achieves an elegant balance between the personal and the freedom to feel anonymous yet at home. This is not an easy thing. It truest a beautiful and luxurious experience from the rooms to the breakfast. You feel looked after and pampered. Run by such a lovely family. You genuinely feel like you are coming home each evening you return. Wonderful place. Will visit again.

SwitzerlandWe stayed just a night but in a longer stay it would be nice to be able to have the tv connected to the guests network so that they can stream Netflix if they do not like to read a book.
Great historical building and lovely hosts taking care of us. Definitely Premium level of hosting. The house is situated in a park like plot right next to the museum of Paula Rego by architect Souto de Moura. A very inspiring place to stay for people who appreciate art and heritage accompanied by all modern amenities. The breakfast was one of the best we had in an accommodation in Portugal. Thanks for the great time! We love this house and will be back if we are in the Cascais area again.

United States of AmericaWe loved everything about this place!
This place is beautifully, and recently, restored. The gardens are gorgeous, too. The location couldn't be better for walking into the heart of the old town and the shopping streets. You'll park inside the property gates so no hunting for street parking. Our bathroom was large and modern, and the bed/pillows were so comfortable. Breakfast was delicious!
