Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

The staff was super helpful, courteous, and went above and beyond (accompanied us to the parking garage). We attended the wine tasting and Fado event and thoroughly enjoyed it - Lahanie is amazing.

United States of AmericaThe weather could have been better for the first 2 nights, but in spite of this, the lady at the desk printed out several pages of ideas for what we could do in Porto on rainy days. We were very happy with our stay at Casa Kala, and would highly recommend this hotel to other travelers.
We liked the intimacy of the hotel. We felt as though we were in a Bed & Breakfast. Each morning, we went to breakfast right outside our door. There was a buffet spread of bread, pastries, meat and cheese, and optional fresh made eggs and bacon, coffee, tea and juice. The hotel had a quaint outside courtyard and a lovely view from our room. All of the staff was friendly and helpful, accommodating us with whatever we needed. They recommended restaurants, helped us make reservations and went into detail with the maps they gave us to get around Porto. They also helped me retrieve my luggage that was lost in Madrid.

United KingdomNothing to fault about the property.
We loved that bit was a small boutique hotel - which had recently been renovated to a very highly standard. Staff were all amazing & so helpful. The location was great all be it I struggled. With the hill but bolts are easily accessible and cheap. The hammocks and egg chair were a nice touch. And very welcomed on our last day.

EstoniaFloor in toilet was cold sometimes, besides it nothing :)
This accommodation is perfect, too close to all the interesting Porto places. Very easy to achieve all of them, and it is not too close to noisy tourist places. Just an ideal place to stay, the staff was helpful and ready to solve all your issues or answer your questions, it doesn't matter if is it related to this perfect house or just about Porto. When you wake up you can hear birds singing, open the window, and see this green grassplot. Also you can ask for private and best parking place to rent.

United States of AmericaThe room was a bit small, once you added our luggage (which was only carry-ons). But we made it work.
The staff was absolutely wonderful! They went out of their way to assist us and even packed us an early "to-go" breakfast when we had to get to a tour very early. The courtyard of the property was lovely and peaceful; a great place to enjoy a drink or your meal.

United KingdomNothing. Everything was exceptionally nice!
Everything! It was an amazing holiday, thanks to the wonderful staff of Casa Kala and the very clean, new, beautifully built hotel. We love the high ceilings, well ventilated rooms, sound-proofing, the art decor and the lock system. They have given us packed breakfasts for our early Douro Tour as well as for the early departure for the airport. They have also given us a complimentary wine and a birthday balloon to celebrate. Thank you, Casa Kala!

The rooms were beautiful, quiet and very clean. The hotel was set back from the street, and so even though it was close to some of the busiest sections of Porto, it felt very peaceful.

SpainKnow before you go: 🅿️ The parking is two blocks away from the hotel, not a problem for me, but the entrance is very small. It was a little bit difficult to access in a mid size car. 📍 There's a steep hill upwards if you want to walk back to the hotel from the center. This is applies to everything in Porto 😂. 🛏️ Bed sometimes wasn't that comfy, but it was probably a personal preference.
📍 Arriving was super easy, and location is a couple of blocks from the center, excellent to be close to everything, but not in the middle of it. 👫 Staff was amazing and welcoming, they provided information when needed, and it was easy to comunicate with. There's no people in the counter 24/7, but you can easily access snacks in the first floor, and the entrance to the house is automated. 🥐 Breakfast was 10/10 for me. they ask how you want your eggs in the morning, and its complemented with a breakfast bar full of bread options, coffee, fruit, among others. 🤖 The automated check in, and automated access is always a win for me. They left access to the parking in my room, and access codes were communicated before arrival. ---- 💯 Overall is a very good place to stay. It is a sweet middle spot between a Hotel and an Airbnb. This is now our place to stay when we go back to Porto.
