Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe section’s narrow and steep streets were tricky to negotiate, and the GPS couldn’t figure out the exact location of the apartment so we had to take an extra lap to find it.
Great location halfway between shops, restaurants and the university

United States of AmericaWe visited in winter and couldn't use the sitting room because it was too cold. Also very cold in the bathroom, with walls and all surfaces wet from condensation despite the heater running non stop.
Wonderful responsive host and prime location. The apartment is interesting and historic. The veranda would be amazing in the warmer time of the year, but we didn't use it in December.

PortugalWe had no issues at all.
The location was convenient, but we arrived via Bolt rideshare, so the driver dealt with the narrow streets. It is uphill from many of the sights you´ll walk to, but that seems true of most of Coimbra. Regardless, Coimbra is a lovely, vibrant town and this was an excellent apartment from which to explore it. I´ll definitely stay there again -- happily.

AustraliaWe were 2 adults in 2 bedroom apartment . 4 adults would be a squeeze, especially in bathroom. Double bed (not Queen) was firm and comfortable but creaky.
Location was great. Apartment was like out of 50s movie. Wonderful taps! Welcome was warm and wonderful.

AustraliaNothing.
We could park car very close to apartment. Very warm welcome from host on phone when I called to say we were going to be a little later than expected, which was a great relief after stressful day. Then meeting host in person was also lovely / warm friendly, explained everything we needed to know plus additional tourist advice. We loved the space and the homely facilities and welcoming touches. A very welcome change after lovely but compact hotels. Would have liked to stay a week! Loved Coimbra.

United KingdomThe beds are very creaky and very hard. The slightest movement disturbs your partner.
Old fashioned interior very well suited. Very clean, good size rooms & facilities. Good location, not too high up and not too low between the new and old towns. Nice outside terrace with views when weather is nice.

United States of AmericaThe beds were hard. I slept okay, but 2 of our family members were uncomfortable. We received notice the day before departure that checkout must be by 10:30am, so 30 minutes earlier than the 11:00am time shown on Booking.com. But, they offered to let us keep our luggage there while they started the cleaning..
The owner, Pedro, was very welcoming to us & shared many suggestions for things to do during our brief stay in Coimbra. The apartment has a fantastic patio with a great view of the city and sunset. We spent evenings out there. And the location of the apartment is central to so much. It made it easy to walk to sightseeing, the river, restaurants, self-service laundry, etc.

United States of Americalike any old building, the windows are drafty and there is no central heating system. There are very effective modern digital air conditioning/heating units in both bedrooms and Pedro has 2 large roll-around heaters, but it takes a while to warm up such a large apartment and I found that I had to keep the thermostats set to 23c to stay comfortable at 20-21c. This was not a problem for me but someone coming from the US might not be used to room heaters rather than central heating.
This is a beautiful antique apartment in an ancient building, high up on one of the narrow streets of the original town, with a gorgeous view of the city from the terrace. Host Pedro tells me he is slowly remodeling the apartment into an exquisite jewel as a retirement hobby project, and he rents it out between work periods. The building is narrow, with a long hall & 2 bedrooms opening from it. The beds are new and extra firm - great for sore backs! The bathroom is beautiful, with gorgeous antique fixtures and an endless hot water supply. A roomy kitchen and a tiny living room complete the inside rooms, but a wonderful large private terrace awaits out the back door! The view is magnificent from this vantage point: 150 feet above a public gazebo with reflecting pools, it looks across the valley to the neighboring hill. There are several good restaurants just down the hill from the building - I had a very delicious dinner at Sete just below my apartment (a 75-meter walk to the lower road). A car is recommended for getting around, though parking in the narrow streets is 1st-come, 1st served. I lucked out and parked right next to the door every time!

United States of AmericaIt was a nice place to stay, no complaints. Just remember to bring additional toiletries, coffee, etc. if staying a few days.
Location and the terrace had amazing views! Easy to check in with owner who gave some great tips on what to see and eat. You are in Coimbra so there are some steep hills to just about everything. The apartment was very clean and we really enjoyed our stay. A wonderful place to have a rest day on the Camino. Decorated in an antique fashion
