Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandIt was perfect!
This property was full of beautiful surprises… so considerately refurbished to retain original pieces of the structure. Ornate! Very comfortable, plenty of space and lovely touches. Mattia was a superstar!! About 45 minutes outside of Gallipoli we got a flat tyre.. I asked Mattia if he knew anyone close to where we were, sent him our location and within minutes we had a tyre repair van turn up, in under an hour we were back on the road! Mattia certainly added value to our stay and we can highly recommend you stay here.

United KingdomNothing it was all great.
Very stylish with great decor, large rooms and bathrooms. We stayed in the room with private terrace which had everything needed for a relaxing stay. The views were fantastic from the terrace. Breakfast had plenty of choice and some choices changed daily. Mattia was the perfect host, and gave good advice on things to do, see and the best restaurants.

Breakfast was wonderful. Mattia does an excellent job of sourcing local items and foods specific to the area. The large room, comfy bed, huge terrace all made our stay wonderful. Mattia was a great host offering lots of information on Gallipoli and the surrounding area. Location is just 3 minutes from the ocean.

United KingdomAbsolutely nothing to mention here. Everything was perfect.
The Palazzo's location is excellent, the building is beautiful, and it has been decorated very impressively. Our host, Mattia, was very communicative and extremely helpful throughout our stay - we felt sorry that we could not stay for longer. I would recommend this Palazzo unreservedly to anyone wanting to stay on the island of Gallipoli.

CanadaNot a problem for us, but potential guests who want to book the fabulous terrace suite need to be ready to climb 2 flights of stairs!
A lovingly appointed old palazzo in the heart of the old city. Our host, Mattia, was very helpful and thoughtful.

United States of AmericaAdjust your expectations a little bit and you’ll enjoy this place.
Large comfortable clean room in a renovated old Palazzo. Excellent location in old part of town, which is a maze of tiny streets. Quaint and curious Palazzo with a wine press in the cellar. Off-season visit in February. Extremely helpful and nice host. We arrived after dark. Gallipoli can be a confusing town. We stopped just before the bridge entering the old city because we could not navigate the streets or find parking, which is limited to residents in the old town.. Mattei came to our car on foot and directed us to a parking place and then helped carry our bags a few hundred meters to the hotel. Not luxury level, but nicely quirky place to stay for a couple of nights. Central heating in the room not great, but host brought us a portable heater and we were comfortable. Decent breakfast.

United KingdomThe only negative for us was the stairs. The lift only went up to the first floor. However Mattia was amazing. He carried our bags up for us and again brought them down when we were leaving. He even drove us down to the port where our car was parked, as it was a difficult walk with bags over cobblestones.
Absolutely stunning palazzo in the heart of the old town. Beautiful decor throughout. Our room was huge, very comfortable with a private terrace. Our host Mattia was wonderful. So helpful and nothing was too much trouble for him. We have no hesitation in recommending this property and would definitely stay here again if we return to Gallipoli.

United KingdomShame there was no main area for drinks etc in the hotel but it was in the midst of a lovely town with plenty of bars and restaurants. Otherwise I couldn't fault it. You were unable to park near to the hotel but easy places to park nearby without any issues. I would not want to be there during the height of the summer as it would be very busy and hot! Ideal temperatures in late October.
The bedroom and especially the roof top terrace were lovely. The Palazzo has been sympathetically restored. Mattia was wonderful and was very informative and helpful. He was very knowledgeable about the area and sent details of places to visit and restaurants etc in the local town and the area generally. We were made to feel very welcome from the outset. A good breakfast spread as well. Hotel was clean and the bed was comfortable. A lovely boutique hotel in the centre of the town.

I had booked a different room but the manager had saved a better one for us at the same price . The room was amazing and very spacious. The location was great in the old town so very quiet. The manager was very helpful. We caught the bus from Lecce and we were dropped on the edge of Gallipoli and he came to pick us up. Going back to Lecce he arranged for a driver to take us as the buses were very infrequent and it only cost us 40 euros compared with about 80 euros for a taxi.

United KingdomI have absolutely nothing to complain about. I highly recommend the Palazzo Gallo.
The Palazzo Gallo is beautifully well appointed and right in the heart of the old town of Gallipoli. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. Breakfast is a lovely mix of continental foods. Mattia, the host couldn’t be any friendlier or helpful. Such excellent customer service is a rarity these days.
