Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomNothing to really dislike considering it’s a good price but be aware the apartment is up two flights of stairs as is common in Venice. Also beware of mosquitos as even on October as the weather was warm they were around. Paula provides spay etc if you ask but best to come prepared and keep the windows shut at night. No air con but fans in the rooms.
The B&B is in an excellent and safe location for San Marco Piazza and to waterbus stops on the lagoon. Only 5 minutes walk. About 10 minutes walk is the Rialto. The area is quiet but has lots of shops and restaurants. Feels like you are living as a local. Paula, the host, is very welcoming and was there when I checked in after 13.00 hours. The apartment is dark but very clean. It has a small courtyard with lovely plants. Good Italian coffee is served at breakfast from 8 to 10. I stayed for a week. Despite my reservations about a shared bathroom this was not a problem. There was hot water for showering, a bidet and all was clean. I am an early riser and so it was fine. There are 3 rooms for guests and it’s popular so be aware of demand for bathroom. As a solo traveller it was good to chat to other guests over breakfast. Paula was able to give good advice about visits and restaurants etc. she speaks French, Italian and English. The bed was firm but there were clean white sheets and towels. Good wifi. There is a cat called Houdini who comes in and out of the apartment which I enjoyed but some may not. I could return during the day and have a shower as it was hot. I enjoyed experiencing a more authentic stay. I had a haircut at the hairdressers at the end of the alley and while expensive (It’s Venice) it was very good. There is a launderette next door to the hairdressers. Easy walk to Campo S. Maria Formosa which has restaurants and fruit and veg stalls. Also off an alley there is the bookshop Liberia Aqua Alta. As well as the usual activities I would recommend the food tour in the Rialto market and San Polo area. Find it on Get Your Guide. Also buy a water boat ticket for the duration of your stay. A great way to get around Venice and have a rest from walking.

ItalyI live in a warm place, I am not used to cold weather, March nights and mornings in ice are Venice are chilly and at the B&B I was very cold. I would have had a ball in the good season but Spring was not in my comfort zone.
The B&B is very close to San Marco but it is on a side street so it is very quiet. There is a terrace where it must be nice to have breakfast and dine in the good season. My room was cheerful and well kept.

New ZealandThe breakfast was very basic and meagre, much less generous than we experienced in all the other places we stayed in Italy. While the room was large, it was also very basic.
The room was large and comfortable which can't be taken for granted in many of the B&Bs we have used in historic areas.

United KingdomBathroom sharing is a big issue. The breakfast was OK could be a lot better. There was a kettle and tea bags in the dining area, but no cups in the rooms. Also the pillows were too big and hard for us.
Excellent location. Very clean. Very close to St Mark's square. Quite and warm rooms. Helpful landlady. Just nearby a few restaurants and take away outlets with various tasty foods.

FranceIt was a little difficult for our room of 4 people to share the hall bathroom with 3 other people because we all seemed to need the bathroom at the same time.
It was an exceptional location! It was so hot while we were in Venice and she added an AC unit to our room which made it cool and perfect in our room.

AustraliaWe had an amazing stay in Venice and our host was fabulous. We arrived late but she was there to welcome us . The rooms were big, cozy and clean. We felt like we were at our home rather than in hotel. She helped us with the information we were lacking and it made our trip much easier. See you next time; until then only good memories!!

AustraliaThey should be more specific that you are sharing a someone else’s apartment that has 3 rooms and one bathroom. The owner of the apartment lives there and you don’t feel comfortable there. The breakfast is really simple (bread, butter, jam, coffee and normal milk) she said in her place she serves “Italian breakfast” so if you need something else better ask before. She is not friendly and can’t speak English fluently.
The location is really good and the place is very clean.
