Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomBathroom needs updating. Everything very dated and noisy cistern.
Good location, 10 min stroll from central Brighton. Owner also has the pub 2 doors down which is where I went to check-in. Great atmosphere in the pub, and service was excellent.

United KingdomIt's a little rough round the edges, probably just because its an old building. Check in was via the pub next door which was OK and friendly staff but navigating people on a night out/waiting to be served at the bar just to check in is a bit of a faff, especially if you have lots of stuff with you.
Really good value. The room was large with a four poster bed which was very comfy. Location is good for the beach and walkable from the train station. There's a couple of nice pubs and cafes nearby.

United KingdomThe rest of the room was immaculate so finding hairs & grime in the bath was quite a shock, I did mention it via msg to the property but nobody came to clean it so I did it myself. Also the bulb in the bedside lamp wasn't working.
Great place close to the city, bars and clubs/pubs, grand rooms, 4 poster bed, fridge, tea/coffee biscuits etc wine glasses were a welcome touch.

United KingdomBathroom isn't the cleanest. The toilet doesn't flush great, and the shower didn't really work. Which was fine for me as I was only there one night
The staff were lovely! The bedroom itself was above expectations! Very large room and beautiful bed and very comfortable, they left a lot of little treats around. TV was good size and had netflix, YouTube etc Location is perfect in the heart of Brighton (which can mean sometimes it's a little loud with drunk pub goers nearby)

United KingdomSlight issue with the showers but as a tradesman.. I went and had a look for them. Pressure in the combi boiler had fallen and after some deduction… told them how to sort it.. so.. hopefully they will sort. Heating was off when I arrived so was cold.. but when it was turned on.. got as warm as toast in the place.. so.. not really an issue. But all in all stay was spot on. 👍😊
Great place.. to stay.. little quirky which only added to the fun of the stay. Good value for money.. and check in was in the pub.. always an added bonus for a working tradesman 😂. Deffo would go back again if I am down that way for work and lots of eateries close by. On the sea front can’t ask for more if you ask me. Nice couple too. Yep.. worth a look and give it a red hot go. 👍😊

United KingdomThere was no hot water in the morning - possibly because there was no electric shower and I was on the third floor. Also breakfast was not mentioned and did not seem to be available despite being listed on the booking.com details as available and to pay at property - we found somewhere else in the Lanes. The parking was described as public parking available for £10 but I got no reply as to where that was.
The room was well equipped and designed for a small space - it was a single room. The best parking was on Marine Drive and did only cost £10.00 for 24 hours unlike the more expensive multi storey car parks further away.
