Shower did not drain properly. Had to prompt twice before it was attended and even then it was not really effective. We had a room at the end of the corridor and could not use the internet.

Nice public area. Rooms basic but comfortable. Nice surprise, we dropped by early to leave some bags and the receptionist spontaneously checked and said our room was empty and we could check in

Cooked breakfast was ok, but nowhere near as good as evening food. The milk was a bit on the turn, but apparently fresh in that morning.

Room was spacious, comfortable bed, very clean, nice soap and shower gel. Lovely building on the towns square. Really nice food in the restaurant in the evening. Staff friendly on the whole.

We have stayed at this hotel twice, April 2024 (four days) and May 2024 (five days). Our visit in April, was lovely, we looked forward to returning. Our experience in May was awful and distressing, we will never book with Surya hotels again. Surya hotels is only willing to provide customer service at a cost. We had horrible experiences at the Dragonfly Hotel within just eighteen hours and requested a transfer of our stay due to the horrible experiences at Dragonfly Hotel. Had to pay an additional £59.40 for the transfer to The Dukes Head Hotel. Dinner plates are no longer provided for guests to borrow at The Dukes Head Hotel. I had sprained my ankle, I was in pain, my mother and I were exhausted due to the distressing three days at Dragonfly Hotel. Once we transferred our stay to The Dukes Head hotel we prepared for a quiet dinner in the bedroom despite it being a Friday night, we wanted to go out and enjoy ourselves but could not due to how drained we had become due to a horrible stay. Dinner was bought from outside but The Dukes Head no longer allows guests to borrow dinner plates. We were drained, I was in pain, despite having paid for dinner to eat in our room, we had to go out to purchase dinner again at a restaurant which cost £4?.00. We had also paid £59.40 for the transfer of the room. After check out, Surya have contacted me asking for more money! When I told Charlotte at 18:40pm that I will be as quick as I can to collect my luggage from Dragonfly, she told me their is not any rush. James says I should have transferred to the room before midday if I wanted to avoid another additional charge of £67.50! There are at least nine horrible experiences within 24hours, not enough space to share them all. I was not able to share all the horrible experiences at Dragonfly Hotel due to this too. After I have queried the charges for the room transfer, Surya state "they cannot do anything as I had booked via booking.com".

Our first time experience at a Surya Hotel, was lovely, the second visit was horrible. Claire is a delight, she ensured a wonderful stay throughout our initial four days at the hotel. Ryan is lovely too as well as Ashley and another young slim gentleman I cannot remember the name of. A very lovely lady also serving at the bar, very helpful and happy to help. Second visit in May was unpleasant throughout.

There was noticeable noise outside the front from the public and local businesses/pubs restocking and working until the early hours of the morning. As the rooms were quite warm we kept the windows open and this was noticeable and affected sleep.

Rooms were large and well maintained with all conveniences. The ground floor had many spacious and comfortable sitting areas and a very good restaurant as well as a bar area serving drinks and food. It was in the perfect location and near all of the places we had to go to. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was very relaxed and calm.

It was like sleeping next to a refrigerator as the back window of room 8, which was covered with a stained net, overlooked the motor housing for the hotel. It kept going on and off at night disturbing your sleep.

Found on arrival that the free parking I was told was available when I booked was now charged for at £10 per day. The free parking was the main reason for choosing the Dukes Head in the first place. No notification that this policy had changed until arrival.

Service at times was poor and all the tiers of the wedding cake were cut???? I could not believe it was not cut until 2230 or later leaving guests no time to eat it so virtually the whole cake had to be taken away to consume the next day and the days after etc etc, Jake and Louise were charged for their complimentary room. Basically hotel staff were unprofessional there seemed to be no leadership or co-ordination.
