the lack of usable wifi on the 2nd floor was the major negative factor that damaged the entire stay. Everything else was great but the lack of wifi is so critical that my overall rating was negative.

Wifi doesn’t reach the 2nd floor. When you ask reception they say they will reset the router & if that fails they will need to call an engineer, obviously by the time that happens you have checked out so just a ruse with them knowing full well the router in reception only works at lower levels. No lift. Don’t take a cat as you won’t be able to swing it in the en-suites. Breakfast staff surly, when asking a question about breakfast being suitable for vegans “menu is self explanatory” Quality of breakfast poorer the later you go down and the longer it has sat warming, potato scone like a rock,black pudding & haggis inedible waitress asked everything ok, then when told about it just went over her head and cleared the plates! Went down earlier next day and against better judgement gave it a go and it was better. Having said all of the above the place just has that sort of character and charm that you turn a blind eye to it and have a good time. All in all enjoyed our stay with the good outweighing the bad. You get a feeling the management are probably fully aware of the failings but such a captive audience in the resort they know they can get away with it and still be well booked out.

Beautiful Victorian building. Good food in the evenings, very efficient dinner service. Waiting staff in the evening were excellent, like a well oiled machine, quality of food at dinner very good. Breakfast a different matter!! See below. Comfortable bed. Good location opposite Aviemore station. Bar staff very efficient never waited for a drink.

Centrally located in Aviemore, which is a lovely little town. The waitstaff at the restaurant were very professional while at the same time being good fun and up for a chat. The bed was super comfy and the room spotless. Be aware, though, that there are stairs that need to be considered if travelling with luggage.

Clean and Comfortable, Very Good Traditional Hotel directly opposite the railway Station. Great Staff, especially on reception, And Great Breakfast! I look forward to going back again soon!

All good - although my Mum couldn’t have made it up the stairs to the second floor!

Friendly staff, lovely traditional ambience, relaxed atmosphere, and delicious food (dinner and breakfast) made for a lovely stay for my Mum’s 80th birthday, and considering the creaky floors and live band in the bar, it was surprisingly quiet at night.

The bright lights outside the front of the hotel, switched on at 3pm was unpleasant because I could not look out the window from that time onwards.
