Loved this place! Friendly, helpful staff and spacious, clean rooms with convenient restaurant for dinner down the hall. Situated in a peaceful rural town. I would go out of my way to stay here again.

MacKenzie Country Hotel is located in Twizel, in the heart of the Aoraki Mount Cook and MacKenzie Country Region. It offers modern rooms with picturesque views of the surrounding mountains. The breakfast was REALLY good! Not complimentary but a great selection and everything was quite tasty.

The Heritage Gateway Hotel is situated in Omarama, at the crossroads of MacKenzie Basin, Lindis Pass and Waitaki Valley. It offers panoramic views and excellent hiking and biking opportunities. Hot breakfast buffet was the best we had on our trip to New Zealand. Can’t say enough how great the staff was!

The Rest is set in Twizel and features a tennis court. With quiet street views, this accommodation provides a patio. The amenities were high level quality, the shower pressure was great and the beds and bedding were perfect and warm. The location was easy to get to and from Aoraki and the Salmon farm.

Very nice, clean, and spacious 2 bedroom cottage. Quiet and nicely accented with red accessories throughout. Great base to do the Hooker Pass walk!

Offering mountain views, Pukaki Air Lodge in Twizel offers accommodation, barbecue facilities, a terrace and a shared lounge. Complimentary WiFi is available. It was one of the most unique and comfortable places we stayed at in New Zealand. Only wish we had more time to spend there.

Situated by Lake Pukaki on a hilltop, Pukaki Lakeside Getaway NZ features panoramic views of Mt Cook and the surrounding farmlands. It is a 30-minute drive from Lake Tekapo and offers free WiFi. The view from the property was spectacular, absolutely beautiful. The house was very well equipped and very comfortable.

Quail Rest is located on Totara Peak Station which is a working High Country Station situated on the shores of Lake Benmore 22kms from Twizel township. Free WiFi and private parking is included. Everything, though about 10 minutes off the beaten path it didn’t matter once you got there. On the front porch you looked right at Mount Cook. The house itself was immaculate and the appointments were top notch. If you are staying for a few days do not miss this one.
