Thought to date back to the 1770s, Houndgate Townhouse provides an elegant setting for luxurious en suite accommodation in central Darlington. Hotel: With only a few rooms it is a rather small, very personal hotel. Everything is nicely done and it rather feels like coming home, than checking in. It is very clean, modern standards and has all facilities you might need, such as sewing kit, ironing board, blow dryer,… it’s all there. We needed adapters for continental plugs - no problem - got three! The beds (we had room 5 with two separate beds) are great. Long enough for a 6 foot person, not too soft and not to hard, with a fluffy blanket a good nights sleep was guaranteed! But the best was the service. The team is as friendly as it can get. Everyone is looking after giving you an easy, pleasant stay. Restaurant: the included breakfast is great. You can hardly ask for more. We also had dinner at ‘Saltfish’, the restaurant at the hotel. The food is very good and so is the variety of offered dishes. They serve non-fish as well as vegetarian. There is also a small bar, but we didn’t try any drinks.

I had a delightful experience staying at the Believe Boutique. The rooms were lovely, and the atmosphere was on point. Upon arriving at the Believe Boutique, I met with Claire, the owner of the Hotel and Bar (Bar Noir). Claire was a fantastic host, who took the time to show me to my gorgeous room which included a stunning bath (complete with salts and bubbles), an extraordinarily comfortable bed with the softest pillows I have ever had the pleasure to rest my head on and a stylish, immaculately clean, bathroom. Each night of my stay was fabulous, I wish I was able to have cancelled some plans on my busy days to enjoy the bar and room more than I was able to. The bar itself was very trendy and featured lots of brilliant music. Claire even took the time to create an off the menu drink; a dark and stormy, which was delicious. Claire's knowledge of the local area and kind approachable nature has made my stay at the Believe Boutique more than just a holiday away. It made Redcar a lovely place to which I am excited to return in the future with less plans so I could enjoy the area and atmosphere at a more leisurely pace. Thank you again Claire, for facilitating such a memorable holiday, it would not have been the same staying anywhere else.

Located in Saltburn-by-the-Sea, a few minutes’ walk from the sandy beach and Saltburn Pier, The Spa Hotel boasts stunning sea views, a bar, restaurant and 24-hour front desk. The restaurant has amazing views and their food was absolutley incredible; BEST Calamari I have ever eaten! The wait staff was a little slow, but it was quite a bust night and everyone was very friendly.
