First class hotel. Friendly helpful staff, beautiful, comfortable room and excellent food. We were driving south from Scotland to Liverpool to join a cruise ship, unfortunately due to bad weather conditions our itinerary was changed and we elected not to sail. I rang the hotel on our way back north and were delighted that they were able to give us the same room. Would definitely stay at Roundthorn again.

The traditional The George Hotel, stands in the very centre of the bustling market town of Penrith on the edge of the Lake District and the North Pennines. The front desk staff, the breakfast crew, and the cleaners were absolutely friendly and engaging. The buffet and cooked breakfast were all very good. The room decor was simple, crisp, and very uplifting. The bed was slightly higher off the ground than standard, which we favoured (easier for people like us with back issues to get on and off). Lovely view of the town centre from our room (2nd or 3rd floor, I can't remember). We also got lucky with parking and had a spot right in front of the hotel.

I genuinely feel so relaxed and already looked at coming back. this was our first time in the lakes and it’s made us fall in love with the place. the hotel and staff are exceptional. drinks.. food were beautiful and the cocktail list was Devine! (Irish Italian being my fave)

The location and hotel were beautiful. Quiet and lovely grounds to enjoy. The staff were welcoming and helpful.

The owner and all of the staff were terrific. They helped with my luggage, check-in, and gave suggestions about local sites. The owner checked me in, then later cooked my dinner and in the morning made my breakfast! These two last items are not easy with my dietary constraints but he went out of his way to make sure I had a perfect stay.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The food was fabulous!! It was located near the train station so it was extremely convenient.
