The style and decoration of the hotel were lovely and useful. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The staff was very thoughtful and kind.

Smithfield Hotel ligt op het hoofdeiland van de Orkney-eilanden, op 23 km van Kirkwall. Het biedt 3-sterrenaccommodatie met gratis parkeergelegenheid, een bar en een restaurant. Lekker dicht bij het treinstation en een karaktervol huis. Slaapkamer was keurig.

Het Merkister Hotel wordt al meer dan 30 jaar door dezelfde familie beheerd. Het hotel ligt aan de oever van Loch Harray, op 15 minuten rijden van de steden Kirkwall en Stromness. The breakfast was beyond expectations. Absolutely delicious and hearty portions!

The Orkney Hotel ligt in Thunder Bay, op 2,7 km van Scapa Beach, en biedt accommodatie met een tuin, gratis privéparkeren, een restaurant en een bar. Orkney hotel is well situated in the heart of Kirkwall, right next to St. Magnus Cathedral and near to the town centre. Staff was warm, friendly and hospitable and even though the check-in was late at midnite, night manager was on guard to provide the keys and helped with the parking of car. The hotel as well as the selected King Room provided the vintage look, along with the artistic poster bed and other furniture. Netflix on a big screens tv in the evenings was good to relax , added by the jacuzzi in the the bath - the icing on the cake ! Breakfast was good though options were limited. Even we were given the small packed breakfast a night before the next day early checkout, which was very thoughtful gesture from the staff. Large selection of whisky at the hotel's bar was attractive. Overall, though pricey esp. in off season but a good stay to spend short time in Kirkwall.

The Stromness Hotel is set in Stromness. This hotel offers free WiFi. Ring of Brogdar is 6 km away and Standing Stones of Stenness is 6 km from the hotel. All rooms in the hotel are fitted with a TV. Rustic and charming, exacly what you imagine a once grand hotel from 1901 in a small fishing village on an island in North Atlandic should look like, loved it.

West End Guest House ligt in Kirkwall, op 1,2 km van de Highland Park Distillery. Er is gratis privéparkeergelegenheid bij de accommodatie. Sommige kamers hebben een comfortabele zithoek. I had a wonderfull stay at the West End Hotel.
