The accommodation itself is a tourist attraction with lots of photo opportunity. It's interesting to learn about the history of the mansion from the tour. We also enjoyed the guzheng music played by a solo artist in the courtyard on a Friday evening.
Since it is located in the Unesco World Heritage Site, many historical significant attractions are within walking distance.
The room is clean although it's slightly dim. We love having the breakfast in the courtyard and the food was good.
This stay is highly recommended for a truly unique cultural experience.

The location is very close to the ferry terminal.
It felt safe overall. Rooms were adequately appointed though a bit small.

To sum it up, this is an exceptionally warm and charming hotel that I would highly recommend.
East Indies Mansion is a beautifully converted hotel from a house with over two hundred years of history, and the building itself carries an incredible sense of heritage. Our four-day, three-night stay was not only comfortable but also incredibly heartwarming.
Although I typically stay at five-star hotels, I have to say this place matches, if not surpasses, any five-star hotel I’ve been to. It was spotlessly clean—I couldn’t find a single speck of dust. Despite the slightly mismatched proportions of the curtains to the windows and having only one bathroom in the room, the level of comfort more than makes up for these small quirks.
Ms. Anna, who welcomed us, was impressively efficient and kind. The two other staff members, both Indian, one male and one female, were equally friendly and accommodating. Lastly, the location couldn’t be better. Almost all of the key attractions are within walking distance, and even if you need transportation, it’s just a short ride away. I cannot recommend this place enough—it’s truly a fantastic experience!

Loved this place. The whole complex has so much variety with themed
gardens, statues, architecture and presence. It's ridiculously cheap to get in. Didn't have time to see the whole site but has now been added high up on my bucket list to return

Almost everything.... Friendly aunty at the reception, nice breakfast, awesome view of Kek Lok Si temple... Nearby Penang hill too... Above all, value for money
This hotel is right at the foot of the famous Kek Lok Si Temple, and just next to Air Itam market where lots of nice local food and eateries abound. The room is clean with the standard amenities like fridge, tissues, 2 dustbins, disposable tooth brush, toothpaste, water boiler, coffee, tea, cups, hair dryer, working TV, WIFI, safe deposit box, hand soap and toiletries. The scenery out of the full length glass window was spectacular.
Kek Lok Si Temple is around 5-10 min walking distance. Penang Hill is 15-20min walk. Easy to find local food around. The Ayer Itam market is just around the corner. You can find famous Sister's curry me at the market in the morning, the famous duck rice at Kedai Kopi Ju Huat for dinner. Laksa is also around the same area for lunch.
Hotel serve nice char kuey teow and other breakfast too. We reach hotel early, the staff allowed us to checked in early. Room is clean and tidy.
Location strategic , walking distance to kek lok si temple. Night time can see kekloksi with beautiful scenery lighting during cny. Car park based on first come first serve basis, but consider ok gt place to park. Overall shall say still OK to stay.
