Be very careful in the tube. We were pickpocketed right on arrival to Athens from the airport. Our accommodation was in Syntagma and so we thought it would be easy to take the tube. A group of several people including an elderly man, a man of thirties with a little girl suddenly pushed us when we are leaving the tube. And instantly my husband found that his wallet was lost. We got back to the tube and asked them for our wallet and they just made a face and leisurely told us to inform the police. No one in the tube helps. When we went to the tourist reporting office the people there even yelled at one of the tourists when he insisted them to make a thorough search on the thief. There was no service at all and I felt that with the government s ignorance and tourist being an easy prey, makes Athens the heaven of pickpocketing. I dont feel safe there. We went there to run the Marathon but turns out being victim of crime. It s a shame.

Nothing spectacular but opposite is the rather drab and uninspiring parliament. The only real draw here is the Unknown soldier monument but be warned the Evzones only wear the gear you might be expecting on Sundays and national holidays.It is nevertheless a performance to behold and, if you'll pardon my french, as camp as Christmas

Best tip - if you want to see the changing of the guard on a Sunday, meet the Tsoliades as they leave the barracks and head towards the Parliament Building. You can stand along Leof. Vallissis Sofia road and see the parade , which is spectacular. Brilliant if you have kids because they can see everything , hear the music, see the marching.

So interesting to see the changing of the guard. Please don’t be one of the idiots who take photos with silly faces and disrespectful gestures right in the young guards’ faces. Instead read up on the meaning of the uniform they wear and the way the changing of the guards works as well as the selection process for the task.

Absolutely loved my stay at this apartment on Ermou Street! The location was unbeatable, surrounded by shops, restaurants, and a vibrant atmosphere. Being near Syntagma Square made getting around Athens a breeze, especially with easy access to the metro and buses to the airport. The apartment itself was clean, well-maintained, and the check-in process was smooth. Plus, being just a 10-minute walk to both the Acropolis or Psyri neighborhood was a definite highlight. Would highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Athens!
Perfect location. The apartment is located in a pedestrian zone with numerous shops and restaurants. Syntagma Square and Metro station are around the corner. The apartment is very clean, new and modern. The staff are exceptionally friendly, considerate and helpful! Helen offered me plenty of information about transportation, dining and facilities nearby. After I lost my mobile phone, Christiana spent two hours helping me with great patience and care! Thanks to her, I was able to smoothly complete my trip afterwards.
The hotel is very central, a few minutes from the metro and from the X95 Terminal at Syntagma Square, within easy walking distance to the main touristic sights. Our room was spacious, super clean and modern. The large terrace was a plus but bear in mind that it is shared with other rooms. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is delicious, with lots of choices.
Great location, just beside Ermou street (the shopping street). 5 minute walk from Syntagma square (there is a metro station there). Restaurants, bakeries , cafe and more are just a few minutes walk away. The apartment is very spacious and cozy, big balcony with a view to the Acropolis, well equipped kitchen, two toilets. The owner is nice and welcoming.
The apartment was super cozy and clean. The facilities in the apartment were top notch and the host was great and aided in everything i asked him. The location of the apartment is in the up and coming center area of Athens and was just about 10 minutes walk from Syntagma square and Ermou St. . I would definitely return to this apartment next time I will be in Athens !!
All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. They even offered us Christmas cookies upon arrival! Our room was always quiet. The restaurant across the street, Tivoli Bistro, was great. Athens in general is a canvas for graffiti and this neighborhood is no exception. It was enjoyable to explore both day and night. The hotel is near many non-touristy shops, pedestrian streets, restaurants and nightlife. It's also an easy 20 walk to Syntagma Square. Recommended!
The hotel is descent and so are the staff. It is in a very convenient location surrounded by shopping stores and restaurants. Walking distance to Syntagma Square or the Parliament. The breakfast is excellent and the view of the Accropolis from the rooftop hotel is excellent. They packed me a breakfast before going to the airport thanks.
The location is excellent, a few steps from Syntagma Square, Plaka, and Monastiraki, and very close to many archeological sites. Breakfast was wonderful and included in the room price. The staff was amicable and helpful. The hotel is quite comfortable and clean, even if a bit frugal. It is excellent value for money and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to explore the heart of Athens at a reasonable accommodation price.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Athens Ikon. This small boutique hotel has spacious studios that are beautifully furnished in the modern style, immaculately clean, and well-appointed. Our room, Room 6, has an enormous, gorgeous terrace. The hotel is located within walking distance to the Acropolis, Syntagma Square, shopping, and many other Athens' sights. The hotel staff are so gracious and hospitable and can assist with every need. Will most definitely stay there again on our next trip!
