Staying here was one of the best decisions I have made throughout my two weeks in Hawaii. Staff is truly super (helpful, friendly, welcoming, helpful) and the people you meet there are just amazing. My private room was large, comfortable, and clean. Bathrooms and kitchen were very clean, too. Location is incredible.

I love that there is a lounge and kitchen that you are welcome to use before 10pm. It was nice to use those areas when you want to reheat leftovers or if you just want to sprawl out somewhere other than your room. There are also extra bathrooms in the kitchen and reception room in case yours is occupied when you need it. The hostel is right by Kuhio/Waikiki beach and they lend out free beach equipment including beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards. Lastly, it was convenient to be able to access your room with a pin or app so you don't have to worry about carrying keys around. There are typically two sleeping areas in each unit and the A/C unit is in one of them, while the other one has a fan and is next to the small balcony that has screened windows. I chose to sleep in the room next to the balcony since I don't like sleeping with the A/C on, and it was cool enough without the A/C even in October. If you get too hot during the day, you can hang out in the kitchen or reception room which are both air conditioned. There is a foot wash station in the lounge.
Kailua-Kona

Great location and the wide range of activities made it all the better! Got to meet a whole lot of new people and make new friends. Staying with Howzit is a real treat.
The hostel has a great location. Downton Hilo is walkable. The facilities were decent. The staff was very friendly.
Great location, easy 10 min walk to Waikiki, and close to Diamond Head. Easy access by road (cheap parking on the road in front). Just around the corner from Kaimana Beach so it’s easy to get a bit of afternoon sunbathing or an early morning swim. The little extras like wine hour on weekdays and the reusable water bottles to take home were a nice touch. Staff were always friendly and greeted us every day with a smile.
This is one of the best hostels I have been recently! Great atmosphere created by the volunteers, many organized trips and events, guests can easily socialize. The hostel is super clean, the bathrooms are wide and modern, the kitchen has everything you will need to cook your own meals. There is pool, foosball, many other games, location is good, there is a Safeway and a Foodland within walking distance. Met great people and had a very good time at the Howzit, can't wait to get back to Maui and visit again!

I loved it. Great location, walking distance to everything, with a great brewery on the corner. Pool was a nice option although we didn't use it. Clean and comfortable bed, warm shower and small kitchenette. Safe location with someone at security most of the time. A/C worked great too. Laundry is an option to although we didn't use that either.
location of the hostel was very accessible, It was quiet and we felt really safe walking around the area. Our flight was delayed to Honolulu so we missed out on two days of our stay, however, the staff was very understanding and did not cancel our reservation. We were already so stressed being stuck in Sydney, but the helpfulness of the hostel helped relive that. We are so grateful. The tours they organise too, are so sick! very organised, fun and cheap. We met some amazing people
Using the Goki app to login and access rooms etc. Very tech savvy, also meant not fussing or worrying about losing keys. Rooms were cleaned regularly - bathrooms to a very good standard. Super helpful staff. Liked the baggage storage, left my main suitcase at the hostel while I travelled to mainland USA for five days. Very hand. Great location, safe too!
