Immaculately clean. Spectacular view from the terrace. Delicious breakfast. Shower had incredible water pressure and HOT water (sometimes not the case we’ve found in other BnB’s). Great value!

The instructions for handling pick-up from the town's edge parking lot were perfect (can't drive in due to small roadways). The cute home is exactly how it appeared in pictures. There was good Wifi, heating, and hot water for the shower. All necessary toiletries, coffee, tea, and breakfast were provided. In addition, when the host tried to help us make dinner reservations and learned all the restaurants were closed for a party, she made us a wonderful dinner at her place instead. She also provided a labeled map that in conjunction with our prior research, helped us make sure we didn't miss anything interesting while we were in town.

I've been to hundreds of hotels and have only rarely had an experience as unique and beautiflul as this. How can a whole house be available for this price? I would have paid four times the amount that I did and have felt I got the proper value for my money. Honestly, Fernando and Eloiza should charge much more than they do. A bedroom, a loft, a living room, and a kitchen, all well appointed and welcoming. A porch with a view unexcelled. Oh! and Eloiza brought a full spread for breakfast! Unbelievable. And Monsanto? This is a must see village. There are other LIsbons in the world but only one Monsanto. No one could possibly stay in this home in this village and be disappointed.

The apartment is clean and has all you need.
There are two bathrooms, one is upstairs next to the bedrooms and the second is downstairs in the living room.
It is located in the outskirts of Relva and Monsanto village can be reached even by foot if the weather conditions allow so. There is short road 1.7 km long starts directly from the house and leads to the backyard of Monsanto.
There is wonderful view from the house.
Communication with the host via booking was good.
Nice neighbors that helped us with the parking.

This is a wonderful place to stay. A little out of the way, but not hard to find, and close to Monsanto. During our stay, the oranges were ripe - and delicious. The breakfast was excellent, and Ingrid was very helpful. I'd love to return.

Monsanto has been the highlight of our trip to Portugal and Spain so far.
It is so authentic and real, the buildings are amazing and the views are outstanding.
The walk up to the Castle is a little challenging but so worth the effort.
We were there for the medieval festival and were made very welcome by the locals and we had some memorable times there.
If you are in the Douro Valley, make the effort to head to Monsanto if you want to visit an authentic and historic village.

Monsanto is the most unique small town we visited on our 3wk trip to Portugal. You can start to see the massive boulders from the base of the hillside and then it's 5 km straight up winding narrow road. You will need your host to show you where to park.

It is a good idea to book a place for the night.
It is a good idea to book a place for the night. The views are so incredible and unique you will want to experience day and night in amongst the boulders. There is a wonderful hike to the ruins above the boulder village. There is spectacular lighting in the evening. The village is quite out of the way for travelling. This was our second visit to Monsanto so we knew to book for the night. Lots of unique places to eat. We ate at our hosts' spot and it was great. Once you arrive amongst the boulders, you don't have to leave until your stay is over. You can find all you need there.

It's a very peaceful place with lots of great views and we found a lovely bistro to eat at. Some of the roads are very steep and you have to park and walk so for someone not so good on their feet this wouldn't be suitable

Breakfast was very, very good.
Breakfast was very, very good. Plentiful and the 1 st place that had scrambled eggs. The setting , room with very nice, and w/ stated excellence and environment. Elegantly decorated. Plenty of cold cuts and cheese. In any event, a morning feast for the eyes and stomach.
the place was amazing, so cute and in the most enchanting village It was spacious and super clean. Host was available and answered all of our questions. The air conditioner in the main space was key as it is hot in Monsanto. The kitchen had everything and so cute. you do have to be careful if you are very tall but keep in mind you are staying in a medieval village!! The location of this place was just perfect. Staying here was a real experience going back in time. And the terrace- wow!
We absolutely loved our stay at Taverna Lusitana! The hosts (who own and operate the tavern) were welcoming, kind and went out of their way to make our stay there enjoyable. Our accommodations were wonderfully comfortable, spotlessly clean and so unique - we really enjoyed ourselves. The breakfast served to us on the patio overlooking the hillside was delicious. Had we known how beautiful it is in Monsanto, we would have extended our stay there.
What an amazing place Monsanto! The rooms were built in and around boulders and was charmingly furnished. The breakfast was amazing and so inexpensive. And I cannot say enough kind things about our Host Estela. Kind --and genuinely delights in getting to know you. I felt like I was staying with a friend I hadn't seen in many years. She is as delightful as the accommodation. And her store is filled with amazing art and well-curated pieces for sale.
Very good location, very kind owners, very typical house, great place to spend some days, well furnished and equipped! Just lovely. If you visit Monsanto it is an awesome place to rest and to prepare for the climb to the castle. On other opportunities I'll try to return.
The space is huge, there is a space to cook, you can step outside and have a nice view of the valley, the windows are protected with mosquito nets and it had AC
This was such a cool quirky place to stay. Had a great view from the balcony. Great to have a washing machine. Contact with the host was good. Stayed here with our daughter - bedrooms were small so had our suitcases in the 'lounge'.
Monsanto is definitely worth the visit, one night is enough to see it all but if you have time and want to chill out take an extra night.
Modern, quirky hotel in this hill top village. Rooms spacious and clean with the provision of a kettle which is not usual in many hotels in Portugal. Small bar in reception but able to take our drinks to the first floor terrace overlooking the village, beautiful view and a lovely way to start our evening. Staff very pleasant and helpful throughout our stay.
We really enjoyed this fantastic guest house right in the center of Monsanto. The view from our room was superb, especially with sunset over the town. Breakfast was good and we felt very well received. One tip, Monsanto transforms itself during the night into a quite and beautiful town during the night. I would highly recommend a stroll after sunset.
We loved the peace, the tranquility, the gardens, the setting. Our hosts, Ingrid and her partner, were very hospitable and helpful with suggestions about where to go. The breakfast in the garden was delightful. Monsanto was a 20 minute scenic walk up a hill. Visiting Monsanto was a highlight of our trip. 😃
The location was perfect. The views were incredible and the walk to the castle manageable (and worth tbe reward at the top). The owners were friendly and accommodating - they run a local shop, the hotel and a restaurant. We stayed for only one night, but it was an experience we will all remember.
Quaint house close to shop/cafe. Small and basically equipped kitchen. Host very friendly and helpful. The private outdoor area with a bbq were a treat. There was even an orange tree full of fruit. There was a nice walk up the old road to Monsanto
Great location within the Monsanto village, lovely house with authentic furniture and beautiful views from the room. The bed was comfy and everything was clean. We could also take our dog with us as the place is pets friendly.
Eloiza Helena was a fantastic host. Monsanto is a beautiful town and Old House provided a very restful and comfortable stay. the assistance provided with parking, baggage and everything else was greatly appreciated.
The house is very cosy and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The hosts are very responsive and even lite the fire for us on our arrival. I would recommend it for anyone planning a trip to Monsanto
A beautiful and unique property. Very relaxing and comforting place, with fantastic and stunning (and fairly easy) hikes up to Monsanto. Wonderful hosts (including the dogs :-). Definitely recommended.
