FAQs about hotels in Faro

Colourful, Historic, and Sunny

Faro is the picturesque capital of the Algarve region, offering colourful streets and buildings, Moorish influence, and typical Portuguese charm. It is encompassed by the lagoon of Ria Formosa Natural Park, and offers wide beaches, a laid-back atmosphere, and a vibrant nightlife.

Occupied by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, and once an important Roman harbour and Moorish culture capital, it was almost flattened by the 1755 earthquake. Happily, the historic centre survived and is today one of best preserved in Algarve. Choosing a hotel in Faro’s Old Town will allow you to have a more authentic Portuguese experience.

The long, sandy beach of Praia de Faro is 7 km from the city, and the beach on Barreta Island –also known as Deserta - is probably the most tranquil in the region. Hotels near the beach in Faro and the surrounding towns of Olhão, Tavira, Quinta do Lago, Quarteira and Vilamoura, are all excellent ways to enjoy sunny Portugal.

Faro International Airport offers connections throughout Europe, and the city also offers ferry, railway, and bus links. Whether you need a beach resort or a hotel near Faro Airport, check out the wide offer available on Booking.com!

A working, everyday town with some interesting buildings, modest tourist offering, friendly people and good transport facilities. Felt safe at night on every visit (even the ever-present drug sellers were polite!) Worth a nose if you're passing through.

Loved Faro for it’s warm and friendly people, great weather, fabulous food, fine shops and charming neighbouring towns easily accessed by train. We were particularly taken by Taveira which is a must visit. We would return to the Faro area again and again

Beautiful sleepy little historical fishing town.

Beautiful sleepy little historical fishing town. Excellent for a quiet few days in the warm sun, wandering around its quaint narrow streets, enjoying shops, cafes and restaurants. Great beaches all nearby. Also less than half an hours' bus ride to the largest shopping centre/outlet village in the south of Portugal (Mar Shopping Centre), so there's something for everyone.

It's a lived-in, working city and doesn't pretend to put tourists at the forefront. However, tourists are well-catered for and I've spent a few happy days wandering the town on several occasions. Just wear sturdy shoes and have a little torch handy as the pavements/kerbs are no fun!

Lovely parts of this city near Marina, and while there seems to be lots of regeneration the city is quite run down in parts and a huge amount of graffiti. Lovely shopping streets and cafes, and a trip to both the Mar and Forum Algarve shopping centres a great way to spend a few hours. Nice restaurants in marina area and small parks. Well worth a visit but two days here is plenty.

Great for just strolling - some of the back streets are magical. People very friendly and very proud of their city. Take the ferry to Cacilhas and try one of the fish restaurants in the main village there. Go to tourist information and you may want to go further. In Faro we ate at 8 Tapas, the Tavern, and Velha Casa - just what we wanted with delightful staff. Octopus at the Tavern with two crazy waiters was superb.

From communications prior to arrival, to right throughout the stay, this was a lovely property! Key pick up was next door in a bakery, which also provided a wonderful breakfast! The room was large, bright and spacious and the (shared) bathroom was clean and modern. The kitchen was very well equipped, and there were tables and chairs outside, and in a roof top terrace for al fresco dining! There were plenty of good eating options close by (some recommended by Casa Portugal) and Faro itself was a surprisingly attractive town to visit!

We really loved the location. From the airport we took a 3 minute bus (number 16) then it was a 15 minute walk to the hotel. Really simple to find. Beach on the doorstep with lots of bars and restaurants close by. Ferry to Faro city a 10 minute walk away. The breakfasts are simple but tasty. Cocktails amazing and the staff were super friendly. We had a tour of the hotel and the team arranged a complimentary bottle of bubbly and a birthday cake also complimentary to celebrate my partners 30th birthday.

Really great location in faro, close to the train station and all the old town faro. staff were friendly. It is pretty basic and functional, which is great there was an outdoor area and a kitchen which we didn’t use. I am pretty used to the £7-12 euros per night in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, so £44 for a room felt a bit steep for what we got, but I think, writing this review in retrospect a few days after we’ve left, that is pretty good for Portugal!

The property looks very new. It’s a walking distance to everything. The room is very comfortable and has everything for a short or extended stay. The Wifi is the fastest in all the hotels I have stayed, which is very important for us who work remotely on the trip. We cooked and used the laundry. Communication with the owner was very easy and prompt. I would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone who would stay in Faro.

The hotel was superb on every way. The breakfasts were outstanding with a wonderful selection of high quality items. The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The staff were incredibly helpful. As an example, after we boarded our train to leave Faro my wife noticed that she left her iPad in our room. She called the hotel and an employee brought it to the train station within 5 minutes.

Location, and the staff especially. Plus the food /breakfast was lovely ----lots of choice.. However, the tea /coffee machines were at a minimum. Could do with installing a few more machines cos it's frustrating to have to queqe so long--whilst your breakfast is getting cold. However, I would not hesitate to return to this fabulous hotel again, if I was returning to Portugal.

The location was perfect, literally a stone throw away from one of the best beaches in Portugal, and so close to Faro airport. The host was amazing, Marcos gave us all the local knowledge and recommended the best places to go, and also stocked up the apartment kitchen with all the basics needed.

Great views and the room was above my expectations. We stayed at the hotel just one night before any early morning flight but if we had wanted to spend more time in Faro, this would have been our first choice. Very spacious, great amenities, and could see it as a great long term stay option.
