We spent just one night here. We arrive late (after 8pm) during heavy rain, but staff was ready to accommodate us without problems. We did not eat dinner here so we cannot evaluate restaurant. Beds and bathrooms were OK, hot and cold water. Good internet connection.

The trip was short as I stand in nelspruit the directions that were given was up to standard the place was easy to find. On a arrival the manager was awaiting for us and made us feel at home immediately showed us to our rooms which was excellently decorated to our requests as it was a couple's weekend that we were on. We could not have asked for better, hospitality, friendliness and info on all the different local places that could be seen and things to be done.
The food that we had was all local both and very nice.

Maputo is an excellent country to travel to. It has beaches that are just breath taking. As a foreign national you will experience challenges with the traffic officers/police, unfortunately you cannot avoid this. Besides that, it is an excellent country to visit.

Maputo is a vibrant, interesting and (by African standards) a really clean city to visit. There is a wide range of really good restaurants. We used taxis to get around or we walked (even at night in well lit areas) and we actually remarked on how good, professional and friendly every taxi driver was. They seem to have standardised fees so you don't get ripped off. We ate at the Dhow restaurant, a stunning vibey spot with exceptional food and cocktails and a good wine list. We had excellent, tasty Indian food at Pepper by Galaxy in the city centre.
On our last night, we ate at Salt near the harbour. A chic, modern restaurant with delicious food. We also ate at Sagres, an institution in a stunning location. The prawn rissoles at Sagres are amazing...I would go there for these as a snack but would prefer to eat elsewhere.
A visit to Maputo is special. A visit to the extremely clean fish market was interesting. Unfortunately we ran out of time but I would return to select our seafood and have one of the many local women cook and serve the meal at their little restaurant spots that are all around the fish market. Well worth a visit

The Hotel is not safe even to walking around the area outside, The Hotel is located in a place with polluted beaches and no accessible transport. The hotel does not offer transport to the Mall or Airport. They didn't even have any brochures to see any tourist locations you can visited around the area.
Taking a Taxi is a waste cause they charge what they want because it is not Controlled

Pretty much still a developing city. Good restaurants abound but expensive by comparable standards.
Overall a great visit.
Taxis are plenty and it’s easy to get around.
The beaches close to the hotel are not great although they are good for long walks - water is quite dark.

Maputo City Centre, I dont like the fact that thier beach /ocean water is extremely dirty.
Great and extremely friendly and welcoming host, amazing breakfast, nice pool in the backyard, very good recommendations for restaurants etc. Almost being a part of the family. Was supplied with water,milk, cookies and fruit during my 2 nights there. Central Maputo, ATM, Restaurants, views of the Bay is all in walking distance in a safe area. Not as private as a hotel, but not like a backpackers. More like a good mixture between private rooms and easy possibilities around the pool for breakfast to meet others.
1. Nice, modern property not too far from the Central Business District in a secure location and with most facilities and services one expects from a modern hotel.
2. Decent food served here and also a few other good restaurants in the vicinity (walking distance).
3. Clean - for me this is a deal breaker and I never really felt uncomfortable that the hotel was not clean.
4. For the most part, I encountered amazing, multi-lingual staff members. Mozambicans are one of the most hospitable people I know.
The management staff was exceptionally helpful, with getting what was needed, giving information of the area and what to do and where to go. The hotel is clean and well kept. The only recommendation I have is for there to be someone available through the night shifts , I personally didn’t need anything but a few other guests needed assistance and it was a long wait to call who was on standby.
Sommershield Guest House was the perfect place to be. The Hotel Workers where very friendly and kind, the room was very nice and the price very good. I will come back!!! I traveled with my girlfriend and we were astonished by the beauty of the place, the food was amazing and the staff made us feel very very very welcome. The fact that the hotel is surrounded by nature on every corner makes it an amazing experience, if you are lucky you are able to see elephants early in the morning or in the late afternoon.
Breakfast buffet was the best part by far. A lot of variety and you never run out of anything. The hotel Staff were very friendly with us and the kids. Very accommodating. I have a special needs kid and they were all flexible and willing to adapt to assist with his specific need
