You need to rent a car in order to travel around.
You need to rent a car in order to travel around. I have had a base stay in Merida. Merida is general overpriced and that doesnt mean the quality will follow for the value of the money. Merida itself is not interesting at all.

We really liked the city.
We really liked the city. You need to understand the bus situation and we tried, bought bus passes, tried using them but they were not coded the way our phone was displaying so we ended up using taxi service for all of our visitations to museums, central, restaurants, etc. It wasn't expensive but much more than the simple bus or combi travel would have been. Merida has lots to offer, especially with tours outside of the city, a bus trip to the beach in Progresso for 25 pesos each way, very cheap, cenotes, pyramids, on and on!

Merida is a very beautiful city, I liked when they Have those wonderful concerts and festivities in Santa Lucia park, and in addition there are so many beautiful places to visit, like museums, endless restaurants, tours all over the city on those double deckers buses with open roofs, also the beach is very beautiful and more, do much more, the list of wonderful and beautiful places and things to do in Merida is endless, my wife and I go to Merida twice a year, we live the city, it's gorgeous, very friendly people and very safe. Greetings to beautiful Merida from Anchorage Alaska USA. Fernando and Ailini.
Excellent place. It is actually a B & B, but with 4 star rooms. The shower was one of the best out of 25 hotels we've stayed in Mexico. Beds were good and the place was very clean. Although in the center of town, it is really quite. We loved the patio, and as it also had super internet we spent a lot of time there to just relax and catch up on our online work. Leo and his lovely wife are great hosts.
The location is right in downtown, but it was easy to park our car in front of the hotel.
This hotel was the best we had have in Mexico. Our bedroom had two entrance, one facing the terrace and the swimming pool, size and furniture of the Bedroom are amazing and very comfortable for two people. The hotel in general is looking amazing, the staff is super nice and always ready to help and recommend places. We were impressed by the cuisine, we had breakfast and dinner there multiple times. Will definitely go back.
The staff was very professional and attentive.
The hotel is very well design in a minimal, yet comfortable style. The pool is amazing and huge for a Merida boutique hotel. Perfect for the afternoon on the super hot days there.
The continental breakfast was lovely.
Hammocks we’re an extra amenity.
The rooms are large, have comfortable beds and a nice sitting area outside.
It was hard to leave.
we really loved this little place, the room was large and very comfortable, the bathroom spotless, and the water pressure the best we experienced in Mexico. and the room was made up every day. Breakfast was delicious, and generous, and the pool was very welcome as it was pretty hot while we were in Mérida.
our host Juan offered helpful suggestions and advice.
The best place I stayed in Mexico, and one of the best places I have ever stayed and I travel often. Viva Merida has it all: colonial architecture, great interior design with a local flavor (patio and restaurant with open roof is beautiful), spacious, comfortable, 2-level rooms, central location and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Strongly recommended.
situated nicely in the city centre which is very convenient because Merida is a nice city to explore. simple but clean and spacious rooms and best WiFi in Mexico so far. Even though there is no bar, plenty of opportunity to meet other travellers if you would like to. staff was willing to help me by making a phone call in Spanish.
This hotel is as beautiful in person as it is in the photos. Service is excellent, with manager Aaron going the extra mile for anything you need. Great places to eat on the way to and from the wonderful sights of Merida. Very comfortable room, Ours had a sweet balcony overlooking the pool. Would stay here again and again.
everything was amazing ! staff, location, room, shared/outdoor space, the brunch that is included is absolutely delicious and in a super charming room. go there : you will not regret it. We have travelled in several cities in Mexico and it definitely is my favourite hotel.
A beautiful spot close to town on a quiet street. Its decorated really nicely and our room was lovely. We had the whole place to ourselves. The swimming pool was really nice once clean, WiFi was strong, it's quiet at night (super rare for Mexico) and really comfortable.
My favorite hotel in Mexico so far. Construction and architecture was excellent. Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Adjoining king room with junior suite for kids was perfect and had kitchen with dining table. Wish we could have stayed longer than one night.
The Hotel totally exceeded my expectations. A wonderful visit. Very professional and welcoming staff. A fantastic breakfast in a beautiful space. I had a beautiful air conditioned room that was around the pool that was perfect for the hot weather in Merida.
The best stay that I’ve had in Mexico! Great location…a truly oasis in the middle of Centro. Design of the place and room was stunning. Plus I slept like a baby! Javier, please send me the link of the memory foam you guys use for the mattresses! :)
well located, stylish, with all the amenities you’d need. the hotel doesn’t operate with a front desk but they are in contact by WhatsApp with clear communication, nice recommendations and helpful advice. Our favourite hotel so far in Mexico.
The location and the price of this hotel was incredible. It's near the centre/everything you would need, the price is crazy for the quality of wifi/TV etc compared to many other hotels we stayed in, in Mexico.
The Hotel Hacienda Mérida VIP is one of 3 connected properties. The staff couldn’t have been better in making our stay enjoyable. We drove to Celestun and Sisal and still had time to enjoy exploring Mérida.
Location for exploring Merida is perfect, pool area is lovely and breakfast was the best we’ve had throughout our time in Mexico. Staff were knowledgeable and really helpful.
- The hosts are welcoming and extremely helpful;
- The rooms are neat, fully equipped and spacious;
- The area;
- Hot water, which is not to be taken for granted in Mexico.
