We loved Guanajuato and would go back sometime.
We loved Guanajuato and would go back sometime. We were only there two nights as a quick stop on our drive home to the US. It's an amazing city with the mining history and tunnels carved in the mountain. The architecture in the historic center is gorgeous, many buildings are from the 1700 and 1800s. We loved climbing the hill to the statue for the view as well as just wandering and exploring. There are all kinds of restaurants and street food, music in the streets every night and lots of shops of souvenirs. We recommend spending several days here.

Small, wonderful, kaleidoscopic, walkable, and friendly city to visit and explore. Great range of activities available: art and architecture, museums and music venues and food options (from street food on up) and hiking in the surrounding hills. Speaking Spanish helps, even if at a rudimentary level like mine. Guanajuato is an easy to just be. And if you forget the sunscreen ... farmacias to the rescue! Enjoy your visit.

It is a beautiful city with lots to explore.
It is a beautiful city with lots to explore. It is more historic and lots of walking but we enjoyed. My kids enjoyed it even with it not being a lot of attractions geared towards children. Lots of street vendors and delicious foods.

The people were very friendly.
The people were very friendly. A lot of walking goes on with very little other transportation. There are definitely a huge number of people walking the street that usually come up from the tunnels. The tunnels being the major source of entrance into the city. The parks are usually full of people walking around and in the evenings they have lots of songs and and other activities.
We stayed in a different building than the main hotel. On the other side of the Plaza Mexiamora and up a small hill. We had a whole floor to ourselves (originally looks like it was a house). Everything was spotless. The 2 roof terraces have spectacular views of Guanajuato. Olga, the owner, was extremely hospitable and super accommodating to some special timing issues we had. Also used Olga’s car service to BJX airport- a Toyota Sienna minivan. We had a ton of luggage so the van was a great help. Short walk down to central Guanajuato.
The staff is amazing. Ani and Alex are the heart of the hostel and make the stay amazing!! Without them it wouldn't be so good. They're funny, friendly, super flexible. Beds are comfy. The private room is just amazing! Its huge. The dorm is also nice, small (not too many people) and comfy. Location is perfect. Food is amazing downstairs (the only good sushi I found in mexico) its cheap and delicious ans hostel stayers get 15% discount. It makes up for the lack of kitchen. Also several vegan options!
The location is excellent. Great place to stay for adults. Was a 5 minute walk to main downtown area. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Rooms were very authentic looking of an old home in Mexico. Views from the rooftop terrace were amazing!!! I enjoyed the authentic, simple, Mexican breakfasts - molletes, enfrijoladas, and chilaquiles. Felt like were were staying at a family members home. Staff was very helpful and welcoming.
Hotel Luna is a beautiful colonial property in the middle of all the action in Guanajuato. The included breakfast was adequate, and the outside dining during the day was lovely in the shade of the plaza's vegetation. Most of all, the staff was incredible. Quick to change a room to a quieter locale in the hotel, or offer travel assistance, I can't say enough nice things about their concern.
This is one of the most beautiful hotel we've been in Mexico, the location is great, walking distance to everywhere but also peaceful at night from the "music and parties" in the Theaters area. The staff speak fairly good english, they were very nice and super helpful, it gives us a feeling of living with a big family with lots of care and love. Will definitely come back again!
I love that this hotel is in a neighborhood just uphill from Plaza Baratillo. Paulina is a lovely person and a fabulous hostess. Casa Azul is a rambling old house with loads of character, and lots of stairs. I'd begin each day on the roof terrace with coffee, listening to the roosters and church bells, and enjoying the incredible views over the city!
Casa Rofo is a small family run hotel. Very clean and comfortable, delicious breakfast, generous coffee. The location is good, hilly but not difficult and a good 7min.excersise from the center. A big thank to Omar the owner who was truly nice and helpul with information. I feel as if I
made a good friend in Guanajuato which is a treasure throve
this is one of the best places I have ever stayed in throughout Mexico. it’s just so beautiful and the hosts are so kind, it’s like visiting family. we had the Sirena suite which was huge, comfy beds and lovely linens, fluffy towels, everything you hope for when you are on vacation. Book it before someone else does.
This hotel offers a magnifienct view over the city of Guanajuato, a beautiful pool area, a lovely breakfast/restaurant area.
Some of the restaurant food was good, but not all. The room was big enough with a good options for clothes storage.
The hotel was at the edge of the busy Guanajuato center. Easy to walk to the main tourist attractions and far enough to be in a less noisy street. People were nice and breakfast choices were plenty.
Wonderful, attentive staff, spacious rooms, beautiful views and great breakfast! Truly an authentic experience of Mexico. We will definitely be staying here the next time we visit Guanjuato!
We LOVED this hotel!!! It’s located in the middle of this beautiful city! Also the roof top has a Gorgeous view and a lot of food vendors right outside of the hotel!
The hotel is close to the main attractions of Guanajuato, close to a bus stop where one can take city bus to the Central de Autobuses. It is a quiet place.
