Loved the location, it was very peaceful and the staff there is amazing. Especially the housekeeper we had, She was absolutely a saint! I've never stayed anywhere that was cared for as well as that lady cared for us. Plenty of cool critters to look at as well, there seemed to be a resident Coatimundi who was always curious. Tons of Iguanas wandering around, saw an Agouti and there was even 2 sea turtle nests right off our back porch. Check in and check out was as easy as it gets. There's a grill out back on the beach, which we made use of under the moonlight cooking up some Mahi I caught while there. The Condo itself was spacious and super comfy, all facilities you'd want on a beach vacation. Snorkeling in half moon bay was amazing as well, water is pretty calm and shallow. Lots of rock and coral formation to look at. And of course tons of wildlife there as well. Very easy access to the Lagoon just down the street is an absolute must if you're into snorkeling as well.

It’s very clean and staff was welcoming and nice. Rooms were clean and the shower was a good size and modern. The room has a ac unit and it worked very well. Close to the beach you could walk. The pool is on the rooftop and is nice and quaint. Not too loud at night like other places. Just be aware the doors close at 10 so you have to be in for the night at that time. Breakfast in the morning is free and is very good with hotcakes, fruit, cereal, and coffee or tea.

The rooms are great, the pool area is nice although 50% was closed which made it really hard to get a seat during the day! Also hadn’t been made aware that the biggest pool area was going to be out of service

Akumal is very nice. we loved the adult section. Some of the staff especially Guadalupe who is the hostess/greeter at the Kutuk buffet restaurant is not friendly to brown skinned guest and this is very unfortunate. If you go here please don't be afraid or hesitate to let guest services know about how you are being treated by any staff member.

I think it should be clearly stated that the ocean swimming and snorkeling on the property is quite limited unless you want to pay for a guide and wear a life jacket. The areas where paid guides take people are often crowded.
No groceries stores in the area, only 7-11 type shops with processed foods.
Breakfast (continental) was quite good. To upgrade to egg dishes was way overpriced.
Very few dinner options available. A couple of restaurants within walking distance. No evening dining at the hotel itself.
If you are not an ocean swimmer or snorkeler but just want to swim in a pool or lay on the beach this place would work for you.

Akumal is a nice town with a very nice beach and a great option to observe sea turtles in the Turtle bay, do a diving course or just chill at the beach. Unfortunately, you can't get to any of the beaches for free, all of the entrance is paid. We found the local guys who were shouting at us and always wanting money for something or trying to sell us something quite disturbing and some of them even rude to us as foreign visitors. The prices the beach are very high in the proximity od the beach. At the end of our stay someone ransacked our friend's room and soon after stole my handbag when we were sitting in a restaurant in Akumal town. I think there is a thief mafia operating around.

There is lots to Akumal not just a restaurant and a little...
There is lots to Akumal not just a restaurant and a little beach. There are beaches, many different restaurants and cenotes. Tami and Elliot will help you understand the taxi system and also how to hop the combis (Public van service) that are cheap and easy to use. They are not chicken busses. There are cenotes everywhere. Some very tiny and some meandering through the jungle. An easy one is Cenote Azul. No real snorkeling but a beautiful place. Charge $10 dollars or much better rate if you pay on pesos. Use pesos as often as possible. Get pesos from the ATMs they have the best conversion rate. The condo beach is a bit of a walk, it who doesn’t need walking, but the cenote flows out into the ocean. Great a snorkeling. Big variety of fish. You can see the transition layer between fresh and salt water. I think our favorite place where we went twice was La Buena Vida restaurant on Akumal beach and after dinner walk up the beach And hitchhiking a golf cart ride back to the highway for a taxi ride ride north back to Sirenis. Most everyone speaks tolerable English but be respectful and learn some rudimentary Spanish like bathroom, beer, check please, thank you and please. Whew. Can you tell we had a great eight day trip?

It was a good place for our troop to convene - 7 in all.
It was a good place for our troop to convene - 7 in all. We had some fun - particularly at the shows. The food was good but not great. The staff was great. The beach was a disappointment - full of seaweed and rocky. Trucks on the beach at 7am sunrise a big turnoff. I would not return unless the beach situation improves.
The Staff is amazing though, they are all so helpful and nice. Always greeting and a smile on their faces, they really did their best to make us feel welcome. I guess that the resort was understaffed for so many people.
I must say that the New Year s Eve party was exceptional! The resort really went above and beyond.
I did not attend any shows in akumal, as this was no where mentioned. Coba on the other hand had their events posted on a wall.
I would not go to Akumal but maybe stay at Coba or Tulum.
The staff were very helpful and the whole hotel was very clean and tidy. We really liked the quiet location on the beach right next to the sea with an amazing view of the bay from our room. The road behind the hotel has good security, is very quiet with little traffic and is very good for walking, cycling and running. Right next to the hotel there is an very good beach restaurant and nearby there is a small shop for essential items. It is a just short walk to the main Akumel turtle watching beach.
It's conveniently located - local markets and restaurants are steps away from Itza Hotel; the staff were very nice and I had a great time staying there; I really enjoyed a quiet environment - no loud music at night like in most hotels in Playa and Cancun; beautiful beaches are very close as well, breakfast was included - . I highly recommend visiting Half Moon Bay, we accessed it via the restaurant - incredible water, very shallow and a ton of tropical fish. Will be back for sure

Oscar the manager was excellent and it was nice to get daily cleaning. The location was peaceful. Parking plentiful. The apartment was large and the beds comfortable. Good supply of soap/shampoo. Access to Netflix, Amazon Prime etc was also good. Aircon in living areas as well as bedrooms and wasn’t noisy. Comfortable sofa although it needs a clean. Beach nice to sit at although not enough loungers. Great bird life. Walkable to Akumal beach proper where the turtles are.
Wow!
🥇WHAT A HOTEL!!!🥇
What an awesome hotel!
Everything was just GREAT and AWESOME!
The service in this hotel was VIP class!
- one concierge per bulding - several rooms,
- transportation around the resort,
Several restaurants: mexican, Italian, french, steak house, etc.
The food was VERY tasty, always fresh.
Rooms was very very clean and cleaned twice a day!
In room service - alcohol, dishes, breakfasts, almost everything!
To HAVE TO STAY HERE!!!
Great place for couples, they did a geat job of pampering us on our honeymoon with bottles of champagne, rose petals on the bed, discounted room upgrade....bathtub on every balcony which they provide bath salts and bubble bath! Food was great, drinks weren't super strong but I have yet to be at an all inclusive with strong drinks!! Staff was friendly, facilities were super clean, rooms were spacious, decor was really beautiful. Highly recommend!
Staff was very polite. Conciergerie is available until late if needed. Swimming pools were really good. Beach with seaweed cleaned regularly. Beach is private and away from vendors. Spa was really good. Gym facility was well equipped, clean and staff very polite. Hotel is enormous so many restaurants and places to visit during your stay. There are shuttles available for transportation to other hotel facilities.
Really nicely placed hotel, with a short walk to both restaurants and the beautiful Akumal Beach, where we saw lots of sea turtles. The room was really clean and everything was in good condition. The staff was super nice and helpful, and even washed some of our clothes for us for just 100 MXN. Would definitely recommend this to anyone, and I would for sure stay here, if my path should ever cross Akumal again :)
Perfect little casita.
Two Full size beds (very firm/hard) but was fine with me.
Small kitchenette with essentials, refrigerator/freezer (good)
5 gallon drinking water with pump.
Nothing fancy but just perfect .
Snorkeling right off the beach out to coral reef
Great/cool restaurants/coffee shop/convenient store with necessities including beer and liquor
I will definitely be back.
We loved Secrets Akumal. We came back for our second trip, and we have already booked our third trip. The grounds are beautiful. so many tropical plants, flowers, and trees! The view of the ocean is amazing. Every person who works there deserves a huge shout out for how amazing they are!! We will continue to come back!!
A nice hotel, basic but very clean. The couple who own this hotel are very hard working and the restaurant underneath has very good food. We loved this locals area of Akumal, very quaint and serene in the evenings. We liked this local area that the hotel was in,it’s very quiet and serene to walk about in the evening.
Beautiful location and spectacular view from the room. Spacious room. Quiet, small hotel for those looking to avoid the gaudy resort complexes.Tasty breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff.
As other reviews have mentioned, the hotel is a bit dated, but we didn't mind so long as it was clean.
Akumal Natura is an amazingly unique experience. It is not a hotel, so I did not expect certain amenities such has hot water. I LOVED the message, the bed was very comfortable, the private cenotes are out of this world. I will come back, 100% satisfied.
Large all inclusive complex with beautiful pools. Very comfortable room. Helpful staff. Nice beach area with small reef close to shore. Amazing food and choice for the number of people catered for. Also very good in al a carte restaurants.
We enjoyed the privacy of Las Villas Akumal -- having a beautiful beach just steps away -- having Jungle Fish Restaurant, which is both excellent and fun, so close to us -- having the Las Villas Akumal restaurant upstairs for breakfast.
The pool and beach is really nice. The location is close to the akumal beach, where you can swim with turtles. You have to book a tour, the hotel staff can assist you. We loved that they provided a water canister free of charge.
Being located inside the Gran Bahia Principe resort in Akumal is the selling point here and being able to buy all-inclusive day passes at a cheap price to any of their 4 resorts on the grounds.
