Peponi Hotel Lamu - Kenya, hotel in Shela

Facing the beachfront, Peponi Hotel Lamu - Kenya offers 4-star accommodations in Shela and features an outdoor swimming pool, garden and terrace.

Quiet and peaceful despite fronting the ocean. Most seafront hotels here would hear noises of motor boats but Peponi is different. Two very lovely dogs hanging around which add charm to the hotel. Staff are mostly well trained. I also love the trees and appreciate that the hotel keeps big trees. Restaurant’s food is so delicious especially thh desserts.

LAMU HOUSE, hotel in Shela

Located in Lamu and with 18th Century Swahili House Museum reachable within a 1-minute walk, LAMU HOUSE has concierge services, non-smoking rooms, a restaurant, free WiFi and a bar.

The hotel was great, hanging out by the pool was wonderful. Reminded me of the Road hotels in Morocco with the pool in the centre open with plants around. The meals were all very tasty and portion sizes just right. The view from our balcony was informative and immersive to watch. Our room was kept spotless and netting around bed much appreciated, that being said we had only one mosquito bite between the two of us. Many people came by on the tour to take photos of the pool, I think the hotel was part of the tour of Old Town. Shout out to Esther at the front desk, always friendly and took care of any needs we had. Wifi was excellent.

Wildebeeste Lamu, hotel in Shela

Just a 6-minute walk from 18th Century Swahili House Museum and 600 yards from Riyadha Mosque, Wildebeeste Lamu features accommodations in Lamu, with a terrace.

This place never disappoints. This was my second time staying here and it still exceeded my expectations. The flat I stayed in was spacious and thoughtfully designed with some artful collections of antique Swahili style furniture. There was access to a private fully equipped kitchenette with an adjacent outdoor dining/ lounging area. The room was airy and well ventilated and also had a very spacious bathroom that had great shower pressure! Joshua is an exceptional host, responsive, warm and welcoming and very attentive. He has even made provisions for Solar lights in case of power outages which were infrequent during my stay and only lasted a few minutes at a time. The Wilderbeeste provides all the comforts and necessities of a home away from home yet its quirky and historical design provides a sense of adventure and novelty needed for a retreat! Can't wait to return for a longer stay!

Great place with no other than pedestrians and donkeys.

Great place with no other than pedestrians and donkeys. Lovely locals and not to many visitors. A day spended out on sea, for fishing and snorkeling ia a must, fishermans are just the Kings!! Seafood cooked at your place is a must, fishes, crabs, vegetables, all with great spices.
