Good location ✅
Very warm and welcoming hosts, always ready to assist with inquires ✅
Hosts had great recommendations on things to see in the area and restaurants ✅
All the necessary tools to cook food in the kitchen as well as a refrigerator to keep drinks or ingredients cold ✅
Beautiful decorations inside the home, giving it a very unique atmosphere ✅
Very different rooms, based on which preference one might have- if they prefer a more traditional japanese styled room with tatami mats & futon, or a western style room as most people are familiar with ✅
Possibility of renting a bicycle, or a motor driven bicycle from the hosts- should the need to explore a bit further outside of town become relevant ✅

We would like to stay another day or two in Wakkanai the next time we go and visit. As it was we spent less than an hour in Cape Soya, which was basically our main objective, the northernmost point in Hokkaido.
We enjoyed the park near the Gate of Ice and Snow as well as the observation tower. The view of the city from that vantage point was very nice.

It is situated at the northmost town of Hokkaido.
It is situated at the northmost town of Hokkaido. Staying next to eki help with transportation and moving around.
Famous for their seafood, Cape Soya for her black cow steak. Winter is a nice get away for busy people.
Despite local trying to promote tourism here, lack of interest by both tourist as well as local.
Summer is good time to drop by. The whole place is covered with wild daisy flowers. The temperature is very comfortable. Wakkanai park, one can still see late sakura here.
Noshapu sunset is beautiful.
If one is lucky, you may even observe parhelion or sun dog.
If you are taking the ferry to Rebun island, do go to the dock to see swimming oracs. I had observed hundreds but they did not surface due to fear of been hunted.
I like Wakkanai, both summer as well as winter.

It's a lovely place at the very northernmost part of Hokkaido. Highly recommend having a car, bit be careful of local wildlife, especially outside Wakkanai proper. Also recommend the White Path, though it's a bit out of the way (near Cape Soya); beautiful landscape and so many Hokkaido deer.
Surfeel was definitely one of the best parts about our staying in Wakkanai. It is only a three-minute walk from the JR station and a one-minute walk from the shore. You can see the hotel as soon as you get out of the station. The ocean view from the room was amazing and the room was spacious enough that we got to enjoy a nice coffee moment by the window when it was storming outside. The staff was very helpful, and there were English flyers in the lobby on transportation and other info. Would definitely choose Surfeel again!
Awesome location.
Literally visible from the JR Wakkanai station.
Close to banks, a few restaurants, but best to buy groceries at the Seicomart in the JR station.
The parking services even made accommodation to lock my bike up (not necessary but was raining heavily).
Hotel provided gowns and shoes, vending machines on most floors, free ice machines, and a good aircon (not really necessary either).
The hotel was right next to the train station, which had bike rentals. The property had bike rentals and moped rentals. Located close to Times Car rental. Utilizing these rentals I was able to see everything Wakkanai had to offer.
I met many locals and other travelers in the lobby. Shared drinks and even went sight seeing with them. The staff was super helpful even though I don't know Japanese.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and my room was great! Enjoyed the 10th floor Onsen very much! I like really like the fact this hotel participates in the sustainability program and doesn’t waste energy/water cleaning the rooms/bedding unnecessarily wasting valuable resources which is the main reason I chose this property!
A very well-run and established accommodation in Wakkanai. I would definitely stay there again if I come to Wakkanai. The place is clean, the staff is friendly and nice, and breakfast is good. The place is quite lively with people hanging out in the dining room.
I especially liked the fact that the facilities were well maintained and clean though the hotel was probably a bit dated, everything was working and kept clean. Unlike other hotels I've used in Japan, the rooms here are big and offers the guests a lot of space.
Clean and comfortable. Great location near the bus/ferry/train; also close to restaurants, the breakwater dome, and Wakkanai Park. Breakfast was simple but delicious, I really enjoyed it. Staff were super friendly and I loved the atmosphere.
The facilities were clean, location is good as well and you can request for a room facing the sea. Owner is very friendly and understanding, and uses a translating device so non-Japanese residents don’t have to worry about language barrier.
This is an old Japanese style hostel with a traditional Japanese room and common bath and toilette facility. The room was small but generally ok. But with the price, you can probably find a better hotel in the city. Breakfast is good.
I was grateful to the staff of The Stay Wakkanai they are really nice, kind and helpful while I was stranded in Wakkanai during the snowstorm. I recommend this place, very clean and organized.
Staff friendly, location is alongside the station. Public area is comfortable. Bed, shower and toilet are very clean. Highly recommend. Best choice for several day stay in Wakkanai.
