We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in.
We hated it. We felt unsafe, boxed in. My friend is fluent in Japanese but even she was having trouble making the staff understand even small things.
It’s a love hotel. Very disturbing. Sextoy magasine, prostitute magasine, locked doors that only open when you call and ask the staff to open the doors.
Staff that didn’t understand. Making me pay for two rooms when giving us just one room.

Shizuoka city has the pleasant atmosphere of a sizable city with a country feel. I love Shizuoka and of course, that big mountain is always visible in the near vicinity when it's not hanging with its cloudy mates.

From a touristic perspective Shizuoka was just perfect for travelers who look for a more relaxing location. It was not full of tourists like you would expect seeing in Tokyo. But this also means that not everything is written or explained in english.
Shizuoka is a perfect stay location when you want to visit locations like Nagoya, Hamamatsu, Mishima or similiar (so places you would usually pass with a shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto)

Oku-oi kojo, Yume no Tsuribashi...difficult to get to, but worth it. A must visit for those who want to get on hanging bridges, unmanned stations in middle of a lake, train lovers, nature enthusiasts and of course kids who love Thomas.

We only stayed in Shizuoka for 1 night and it was definitely not enough length. We saw Mt. Fiji and beaches, and also experienced hot spring. We went to the waterfall as well. All of experiences were enjoyable.
The owner and his wife were very friendly. They let us read all their manga and even lent us their bicycles, which allowed us to see all kinds of different thing in Shizuoka.
The place had a very relaxing traditional japanese feeling, which we really enjoyed.
They let us use all the facilities like the kitchen and fridge, so we could have even cooked our own dinner.
Location was great as well, since we had the bicycles, the beach wasn't far.
All that for a very cheap price.
I can only recommend staying here if you are in Shizuoka!!!
Felt like a Japanese for a day! The house is very spacious and clean. It was decorated in Japanese style wich really impressed us. We went there by car so it was easy for us to reach the house. The host is very nice. She will appoint you to pick up the key at a store nearby and will lead you to the house. We have four people but we think the house would be able to fit more people than that. The facilities were awesome. We had a great experience there.
Very well priced hotel so please select a corner suite on a high floor with the most incredible views you will ever see. The price is reasonable and you will enjoy every second of those captivating mountains and city views. You won’t want to leave as you’re taking your best photos from your bed, and doing your best sightseeing.
We also had one of our best dinners ever in the Chinise restaurant. Beautiful food and service, and easy to walk home.
The hotel was decent overall, offering a satisfactory experience. Despite the minor inconveniences, such as the distance from the train station, I found the stay acceptable. Additionally, the hotel's setup and ambiance seemed adequate for a comfortable stay. The rooms were notably clean, contributing positively to the overall experience.
Wonderful ryokan experience, with very helpful and attentive staff. The futon were some of the comfiest I've ever slept on, and the breakfast was a real feast. The Japanese garden and general atmosphere of the inn were very relaxing. Very close to views of Mt Fuji from the beach (if there aren't too many clouds).
I needed to buy a plug adapter to be able to charge my PC with a French socket. The staff indicated me where to get one;
I lost my wallet while in Shizuoka. I thought it was in a bus. The staff in the hotel helped me find it, by calling for me the bus terminal and tell me where to go.
Grand Hills is a businessman hotel. Many conveniences. Has a cafe and restaurant. Located close to Shizuoka Train Station. I enjoyed their breakfast. There were western style items & traditional Japanese items. Everything was made with great care, plus you can get as much as you like.
I liked how the size of the capsule is actually a little bigger than the average size of a capsule hotel room. In addition, the closet was very convenient.
The location was also extremely convenient. It's super close to the station, and there's a lovely cafe just on the corner.
Being practically at the door step of Shizuoka Station and the department store Pache, as well as many restaurants/eateries, we really couldn't have asked for a better location. The room was spacious and the buffet breakfast was a good spread; the croissants were excellent.
The property was clean, comfortable and in a good location being near the high street and station in Shizuoka. Not only were staff friendly and helpful but so were the residents at the hotel when we stayed. Also, I was able to see Mt Fuji from my room which was amazing!!
