Standard big station hotel with the ever polite Japanese staff. Small onsens on the ground floor. Although in the back of the building it is a bit awkward to have them there. Breakfast was okay.
Nothing great, but nothing wrong. If you want to stay near the station it's a good place.
Set 1.7 km from Lafcadio Hearn Memorial Museum, Onyado Nono Matsue Natural Hot Spring offers 4-star accommodation in Matsue and has a spa and wellness centre.

Our stay was brief - only two full days - but in addition to its castle and historic district made for walking, Matsue is a good jumping off point for day trips to Izumo Taisha shrine, the Adachi Art Museum and the garden at Yushien.
One evening we had an enjoyable meal at a local "okonomiyaki" restaurant on the quiet street behind the hotel. The 88-year old proprietress was energetic, fun to speak with, and recommended a very tasty locally-brewed sake.

Matsue Castle and the surrounding castle complex are incredible. It’s a far more authentic experience of feudal era Japanese castles than the remodeled, refurbished, and in many ways entirely rebuilt castles of Osaka, Nagoya, and Hiroshima, to name a few.

It's a wonderful and charming city! The art museums, castle/historical sites, and natural scenery are great. We had a lovely time just walking around the side streets and along the river. A hidden gem of Japan for sure!

Matsue castle is the best to recommend to you, to see from the outside and inside of old wooden architecture. I also recommend to visit an old great Izumo-taisha shrine by train from Matsue to Isumo-shi and bus from that station.

Matsue is a nice little city with a few interesting places to see (such as the castle). Its public transportation does leave a bit to be desired in terms of frequency, but, on the other hand, there are conveniences like a bus from Matsue station to Hiroshima that runs at thirty minute intervals. It is a bit far from more prominent locations nearby, though, which made scarce public transit a bit bothersome.
The staff were very polite and helpful. There is a complimentary free drink after 5 to 9 PM, a small ice cream from 3 to midnight. As well a half-size ramen service that I didn't try from 9to 11 PM. The breakfast was OK. There are vending machines located on the odd number floors. The location is really good, there is a 7/11 in front of the hotel as well a Lawson 50 meters away. Station 300ish meters away plus many restaurants. Lastly, the hotel seems to be very new, that is a big perk for me.
Amazing stuff, great location, clean.
Breakfast was really good, it was buffet style with a lot of diversity of meals.
The hotel even offers a lot of additional free stuff if you need some, like a shoe dryer, bicycle, iron, air cleaner, additional pillow, towel, night wear, etc.
The common area is a nice, good place to chill.
Capsule bed was quite nice and there was enough space to leave your belongings (there was a small locker inside the capsule) and a big locker in the next room.
The breakfast was very good; the location was also good tho' a courtesy bus to Matsue Station would be nice.
Nobody told us that the excellent Lakeline Bus stopped just outside the hotel. We found out by ourselves!
Meals are expensive, and it might be useful to future visitors if you tell them that the "Shijimi-kan" about 150 metres west of the hotel has cheaper alternatives.
Unlike most hotels, the room toilet and bathroom were separate. That was wonderful!
Stunning, authentic and clean room(s), kind and understanding staff who spoke to me slowly in Japanese to assist with checkin, and rules were reiterated in English on documents anyway despite Matsue being relatively rural. Absolutely beautiful view at both night and in the morning, I was shocked! Onsen came free with the stay. Zero complaints, the best stay of our trip around Japan.
The owner was the absolute best!! She really cares for her guests and treats them like family. She was so concerned one of her recommendations didn't work out for me, so she tried extra hard to make my time in Matsue memorable. She knows all the local knowledge and can tell you all about many things. The cats are very cute and she keeps the house very clean even with all the cats!
Definitely one of the nicest capsule hotels or hostels I've stayed in. The female-only bedroom was quiet and well-ventilated, the shared bath/shower/locker facilities were clean and comfortable, and the location is conveniently just a few minutes' walk from the train station. Breakfast was also good with a nice selection of Japanese and Western foods.
A nice place to stay at Matsue.
The hotel is close to the Train Station and the bus stop.
There are some shopping malls near the hotel and the train station, too.
The staff are friendly and can speak English well.
The room is tidy and clean. They also have some extra facilities like washing machines, dryers, ...
Everyone at the hotel was lovely and looked after us very well. Lots of seafood for dinner and also breakfast, and both were generous. Our room had a sitting area and a great view of the harbour. In addition to our private bathroom, there was an onset style bath, which you can use privately with your partner.
Highly recommended guest house.
It’s valuable for solo traveler to stay and enjoy the Japanese onsen culture
The staff is super nice. They will notice my note and pick up from the JR station.
I have lost my watch in the hotel and then the staff help me to deliver it . I really appreciate the help from them.
I think it was the best hotel during our three week trip to Japan. Modern, comfortable rooms, very spacious as for Japaness standards. The staff was nice and helpful. Located near the railway station, not far from some nice diners and a convenience store, about half an hour walk from Matsue Castle.
The hotel was really comfortable and fit me and my four friends very well. It was also located in a nice location with cool izakayas and bars within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel was also very clean, even the shared showers!
Magnificent outdoor onsen with great view! The hotel staff are very nice and helpful. Fantastic food! Excellent hospitality! The Japanese garden in the hotel is one of the best in Japan and a must see!
A lovely, tidy, quiet, Japanese house, near the station, close to the centre of Matsue. The futons were comfortable and warm. The house is attractive, and subject to comments below, set up well.
Perfect location for a visit to Matsue castle. Spacious room, very clean and friendly. Extrem polite and nice Host, who speaks very good english. Domo arigato Emi san.
The hotel was located close to eating and shopping, and the train station was only a 3-minute walk. The hotel also provides free rental bicycles to guests.
