Our room was comfortable and clean, with a fantastic view of the Nezame-no-toko Gorge. The onsen was nice and well maintained. Another perk is that the hotel is in a pretty and very quiet part of town, but there's easy access to the local bus. Finally, we were able to use the wifi from our room.

Getting to live in a big traditional house was a great experience. The host was extremely helpful in showing us around the house.

A nice house in an excellent location, within easy walking distance to lots of restaurants and about 20 minutes from the train station. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a few meals, and the washer and dryer were a lifesaver. Akiko was a very gracious host, offering to pick us up from the train station when it started raining and checking in to make sure there wasn't anything we needed.

We had a very large room w a separate dining area but there was no comfortable seating.
Everything was a bit dated.

Location: Hill Top is an apt name for this delightful, off-the-beaten track guest house in the stunningly beautiful Kiso mountains.
Service: above and beyond. Owner/host/chef Masahiro-San was so gracious and welcoming.
Food: we opted for breakfast and dinner, which was excellent; served in the dining room with a beautiful view of the mountains. Masahiro-San is an excellent and creative chef.
