Small town where if you look for the real Italy you can still just about find it - Sorrento is becoming very commercialised with English pubs and Irish pubs and fast food joints. Felt a little but Skeg for me!

Sorrento has beautiful view all around the island from a high level. However, the centre is extremely busy with both people and traffic and if you are looking for some peace and quiet then I wouldn't recommend.

It was very pretty with lots of little side streets with shops selling food and gifts for tourists. There were lots of restaurants at different price points, it was easy to eat out and find somewhere to eat. It might be a bit more difficult if you are vegan. There are some nice places to walk around Sorrento itself. The port is easy to find and there are sunbeds and swimming areas available (for a price). The old fishing village part called Marina Grande is very pretty and we had a meal out on the sea front with a view of Vesuvius on several occasions. We went to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples on the train which was easy to do. Our daughter and her boyfriend caught boats to Capri and Positano and also got the bus back from Positano. It is easy to get around without a car. We did a sunset kayak on our last evening which was really lovely. We did get some rain but the weather was hot every day. I would say it would not be so easy to get around if you are not able to walk well. There are lots of cobble stones, steep paths and steps. I would also say, its not so good if you have young children as it is very hot and busy, unless you are staying in a family friendly resort with a pool and other facilities.

The room was in a brilliant location , with a lovely balcony where you could watch the world go by.
The markets and shops were right at front of the apartments.
A short stroll to the marina and restaurants and cafes.
Easy ferry rides to capri, positani and the amalfi coast.
Day trips to pompeii are easily organised from sorrento.
We found it to be a great base to stay.
amazing place, great views, really attentive hosts, very generous breakfast- best we had in Italy. great pool, beautiful area of Sorrento. quiet - 20 min walk from center. hosts offer free shuttle on request but we preferred walking as the area was lovely. our room was much better than on the pictures. not sure if other rooms are so good, but our was lovely! we loved everything there and want to come back. don’t trust google maps- the apartment location there is marked wrong ;)
Absolutely fantastic sea view from the hotel terrace. Nice and wide rooms with small kitchen where you can possibly cook smth, make coffee.
Bed is comfortable and large.
Bed clothes are clean.
Since it is located high in the mountains, it is never too hot, we did not even use AC during the night and day.
Very authentic place where one can feel like in old Italy. free parking. Very quiet place.
The hostess greeted us at the bus station and took to the hotel.
Location wise, it was perfect. 5 minute walk to the centre, 10 minutes to the beach, everything you need is within walking distance.
Communication from the host was top tier, could not have been more accomodating!
The room itself was perfect, so comfortable, spacious, clean, modern and the bathroom was the best we’ve had in Italy.
Cant say enough good things about this place!
Fantastic location in the heart of Sorrento. The hotel’s original features are amazing and the rooms are spacious and clean. Iron and a good hairdryer in the room very handy. Typical breakfast in Italy, lots of pastries. The turning down of your beds with a weather report being left each evening was a nice touch. All the staff are very friendly and helpful!
One of the best stays in Italy (and I've been here more than 10 times). Villa is exceptional, very well furnished, clean. View is amazing. The only problem that its high up in the mountains and you have to take a taxi or walk for 30 min to go to Sorrento or the beach, but everything else makes it worth it
