On a narrow peninsula protruding into Lake Garda, Sirmione is a wonderful town famed for its multi-turreted castle, Roman remains and hot springs.
The 13th-century lakeside castle makes quite an impressive sight as you cross its drawbridge to enter the old town beyond. From its walls there are lovely views across red-roofed buildings towards the trees hiding the ruins of a huge villa that belonged to 1st century BC Roman poet Catullus. Part of the complex included baths benefitting from the thermal waters, and the town still has a spa today on the opposite side of the promontory.
Nearby is the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore with its 15th-century frescoes, and the surrounding narrow, cobbled streets are home to stone buildings and several Sirmione hotels on Lake Garda. The majority of hotels are mid-range, but there are still a few 4 and 5-star hotels in Sirmione to choose from.
Booking.com also has lots of accommodation by the lake in the newer part of town, and its Lugana Vecchia area has a UNESCO World Heritage-listed prehistoric site.
To the west of Sirmione is the lakefront town of Desenzano del Garda, while to the east is Peschiera del Garda, close to the Gardaland and Canevaworld theme parks. The nearest airport is Verona Catullo Airport to the south-east.

Hi ha una Plaça plena de restaurants, nosaltres per qualitat preu repetiem al Bar Moderno. Curiosa i acollidora platja Jamaica Beach de enormes roques blanques.

l'habitació, el bany, el menjador, tota la casa, els mobles, tot nou, net i molt cuidat, fins i tot les bicicletes. Els detalls encara més, cada racó, cada objecte, perfectament escollit i colocat. I per damunt encara hi havia el servei, l'atenció dels amfitrions, plens d'amabilitat i ganes d'oferir el millor. En fi, un bon hotel et podrà donar una piscina, un spa, o bé un exèrcit de professionals, però no arribarà mai a aquest nivell de qualitat, detallisme i tracte personal
