I had my own car to go around Majuli so I had a fantastic time feeling relaxed throughout. I went in mid April which I learnt is an off season for tourism. I enjoyed the freeness around the island, i got to see for myself why Majuli is called the largest river island. I had a great time going around the many peace inducing spots in the island. Great place to learn culture, spot beautiful birds, admire the mighty Brahmaputra, admire beautiful mother nature and relax just about anywhere.

Getting around the place after dark as a single woman...
Getting around the place after dark as a single woman traveler is inadvisable, as even though the local folk are very friendly and generous, the lack of streetlights and public transportation can be a bit worrying.
Ask for food prices BEFORE you eat, or you may end up paying more.
Hire a bicycle for the most convenient experience in getting around. Pack a picnic and lunch by the water every day if you can.

Majuli is the largest river island in the world.
Majuli is the largest river island in the world. It is really wonderful to see the island with all facilities surrounded by Brahmaputra and inside island you can find a branch of Lohit river also. Ferry is really worth watching with all vehicles along with human and at your convenience for business and personal. They follow Vaishnavite culture and you find world's biggest mask making center and pottery section is also worth seeing. They make masks with bamboo and coconut waste with Eco friendly material. Tradition which is preserved is really appreciable.
