Can't find much of a reason to be in Barkot other than as a layover to the next location. There is some interesting old architecture down in the community and some old ashrams.
I tended to eat in main street tea shops. There are many of them and lots of choices for inexpensive meals.
I did take a long hike up into the hills above the city to get away from the noise (incessant horn honking).
