I liked my morning sessions on the stand up paddle. I liked the comfortable bed. Hotel Barbara staff also picked me up and dropped me off in the center. That was very much appreciated.

There isn’t much to do but the tranquility of the place is superb. Peaceful with good low temperature between 19 deg C - 22 deg C. A place to unwind and relax.
The next time I will look for the hot springs.

The scene there was beautiful and breath-taking. The whole of Samosir will likely only take you about 3-4 days to finish visiting if you have transport. However, my partner and I were there for 8 days and took our time walking around and relaxing. We do believe we could have shifted accommodations to another part of Samosir though.

Tuktuk is a beautiful and comfortable place for a vacation, its location on the shores of Lake Toba which is not sandy so you can jet sky but not play on the sand on the beach. many inns ranging from home stay to hotel. Currently December 2022, most of the properties are not well maintained, there are boats from Parapat to Tuktuk.

Tuk Tuk is a small chilled out place on Samosir island, easy to reach by ferry from Parapat (30 mins) or Balige (1 hour) there are some lovely people here on the island and plenty of options nearby,. The best thing to do it rent a scooter go for it. I went round the entire island scouting for best spots and village life. in mu opionon, head South from Tuk Tuke, lakeside on your left and after about 30 mins of travel you will be way up in the hills and mountain side - specatcular, watching Eagles and Hawks hunting up close from the vantage points - worth every effort and simply stunning views of the lake!
Put Lake Toba on your bucket list!

Everything. It was a rugged location with the lake and sunset at your doorstep. You can wake up to the sound of the waves and it was quite peaceful. But perhaps the best thing about them is the hospitality, and their FOOD. I tried various different restaurants from my stay at Tuktuk and nothing came close to the food made by Hamlet and Rita at Laster Jony's. It felt like coming back home from a long day of travelling. Definitely try their veggie and cheese omelette, fried rice, and mixed fruit pancake 😍.
The location where Liberta is set is very nice and quiet. One can see that it really used to be a great place to relax. The only very nice person was the son who has to run the place by himself while his father is sitting around in the reception area all day. The son tried his very best and was very sweet. But it is just too much work for one person to run a homestay.
- Location and views are absolutely stunning, best spot of Tuktuk if you ask me.
- Rooms are basic but provide what you need.

Things that would improve a stay even more:
A hammock on the balcony and some (reggae) music in the restaurant to enhance the reggae vibes;)
The lake view was stunning and the bed was the most comfortable I had for years in any hotel. When you come from Parapat via ferry, there is an option to leave the ferry directly next to the property, just ask the guys running boats :) Same when you leave, they can pick you up directly at the doorstep of your guesthouse.
The room is located directly at the lake which gives a fantastic view. The personnel is friendly and the breakfast is great! The hotel is located at walking distance of some lovely bars, restaurants and wood shops. You can also rent a scooter at the hotel to explore the island which I can highly recommend!
It is a very nice hotel, beautifully located. It is right next to the lake, so you wake up and go to bed with an amazing view. You can swim there right in front of the hotel and use their kayaks. The food in the restaurant is very good. We had a great stay and is definitely recommended

Rooms were huge, spotlessly clean, great family and staff that run it. Great food, amazing views. Organised transferred from hotel to boat and the other side to get to Medan airport. Nothing too much trouble.

Location at the lake allows for morning dive but as well for in the middle of Tuk Tuk, the (quite young) staff is super helpful and the house is super pretty with a nice balcony.
