After reading some reviews I was a little nervous but thrilled that every negative comment was proven wrong. I was in room 5, with a double bed, private bathroom, ceiling fan and A/C. It was fantastic!
The staff was incredibly friendly and the food was delicious. I went on two tours booked through Viñas and both were fantastic. I had an incredible time.

The food was incredible. Olga runs the kitchen and it’s the finest food you can get in Lanquín. One night we decided to go to the best rated restaurant and it was awful. We had to wait 90 minutes for mediocre, small portions and overpriced food. After we got home we had Olga make us some food for 1/3 the price, 1/8 the wait and four times as good. We did the semuc tour with David and IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE. Words cannot describe. The rooms were comfortable and simple, and it was like being part of a family. Could not ask for a better stay.
Olga did our laundry. They also had facilities for you to wash your own.

This is a very charming place. Our hostesses were very kind and attentive. Four of us travelling together had a large room with three beds plus a bunk bed. They clearly welcome backpackers and families since they have several similar large rooms. Our fifth friend had a single room with shared bath in a separate building. The rooms are very basic - not fancy - but ultra clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were wonderful (not included in the room rate.) We had one dinner there which was very good. The deck overlooking the river was the place to be in the mornings and the evenings. There are tuc-tucs for transport to town and also you can hire private pick-up trucks to transport you - realize that you will ride standing in the back. They have metal racks to hold onto. Some have an extended cab where two people can fit. The hotel can arrange for these. Overall, a very pleasant place to stay when exploring Semuc Champey and Lanquin.
