We loved the cozy little cabin. Do yourself a favor and book the glacier view. The view is stunning. What I really want to write about was the manager Katerina. We got snowed in as the road through the mountain pass had closed. Katerina gave us a discount on an extra night as we quite literally couldn't leave Kazbegi. She called a driver for us so we could get to a store for food and to take us to a restaurant. When we lost our booking for a driver back to Tbilisi because of the road closure, she arranged for her husband to drive us to Tbilisi for less than we would've paid on Gotrip. The road didn't open until 5 pm our last night and she allowed us to hang in the room and didn't charge us for the extra time. To top it off, she messaged me after we returned to Tbilisi just to make sure everything was OK. What a kind human. ♥ If we return to Kazbegi I would love to stay at Kazbegi View again.

Generally, tourist travelling to Stepantsminda do a day trip from Tbilisi and are not able explore the location much due to tour plans. But this location is definitely worth exploring more. The must visit places in this area are Gergeti Trinity Church, then on the way from the church there is Kazbegi Zipline which is 1.2kms long zipline and it cost 120 Lari. Then there is Viewpoint Terek valley 10-15min drive, after that there is Gveleti Big Waterfall which needs trekking. The Dariali Monastery Complex is must visit which is near to Russia-Georgia border. Then Ioane Natlismcemeli is another Monastery which is in Stepantsminda which can be accessed from the main market area towards the mountain. The most calmest and peaceful location of Stepantsminda.

Great place for hiking up mountains, wonderful nature to see. Gergeti monastery was an easy climb of about an hour. The village was small, dusty and quiet, not so much to do in November and not so many tourists. Simple and beautiful place with fresh air and silence.

We went to Kazbegi to see the Gergeti Trinity Church and Mount Kazbek, and were extremely fortunate with the weather - in November.
During our visit to Gergeti Trinity Church, the sun was shining at 15 Celsius in the air and just wispy clouds were in the sky. The next day snow fell on the slopes, and the temperature hit freezing point.
The drive ut from Tbilisi is something to be mindful of if you are easily stressed or inexperienced. We drove ourselves, and I am an experienced driver who has been driving all around the world.
You should set aside 3+ hours for the drive - and be prepared for a large number of semi-trailers heading in both directions. Be prepared to pass them when the situation allows. And be prepared for them to pass each other when the situation doesn't.
When you arrive in Stepantsminda, the town in Kazbegi where we stayed, you are at the mercy of the weather when it comes to what you can see and do. If the mist shows up, the view is gone.
On the road down, use the engine brake on your car - or else you might fry the regular brakes.

The scenery is breathtaking.
The scenery is breathtaking. The visitor centre on the main street is useful and friendly. You can drive up to the Church , iconic photographic opportunity.
We visited in September, not very touristy at this time.
Its a relatively small place with a couple of shops.
The drive up and backon the Georgian Military highway is not an easy journey, lots of lorries , you quickly learn to overtake them on bends.

It is a good get away if you are looking for hiking, good...
It is a good get away if you are looking for hiking, good views and refreshing greenery. We enjoyed our stay as we were looking for exactly this. The weather at the end of aug/ starting September is a good time to visit.
If you can’t afford (or simply want to avoid the usual hustle of the place) to stay in Kazbegi Rooms, the Green Ship is a nice alternative. Quiet, clean, nicely furnished, with a large and secured green yard (perfect for small children), luxury orthopaedic mattresses (I saw comments complaining about its hardness, but it was just perfect for my tired back after a day-long hiking) and, most importantly, extremely friendly personnel and a lovely puppy for the children to play with! One of the best price-quality ratio hotels in Stepantsminda.
Maia was a great host! She was very friendly and sweet, also she was always available in case we needed any help. She let us store our bags for a few days while we were hiking around. The place was always clean. There is a tea kettle available to use. The shower always has hot water. There was some food options available for cheap and also some delicious wine, which I loved drinking in the balcony with the great view it offers. It was the best experience we had in Georgia! (We ended up staying 8 nights!)
- The hotel is new, so the rooms and interior feel fresh.
- Rooms are also warm and comfortable.
- It was quiet at night. I had no trouble sleeping.
- The breakfast was excellent; we even took some of it with us to eat while hiking.
- The staff was friendly, chatty, and willing to help in every situation. Excellent service is rare in Georgia.
- Nice view from the window on Kazbek mountain.
If you want to get the best value for money, Northgate is a great choice!
The cabins were super comfortable and quiet. They are about 15 min away from the central square of the town and shops, and restaurants. Nino prepared fantastic local breakfast and even a special bread for St Elias's day which was delicious!!!The owners were always around for questions and requests. They were very hospitable and helped us a lot with questions about what to do in Kazbegi and how to move around. I hope we can visit again on our next visit to Georgia!
Loved the place and the view from the hotel. Sophia is the best host I've met so far. She is so sweet and always ready to help you with anything you might need. Everytime I had to confirm something I googled about I go to her (which was a lot) but she didn't seem bothered and was always eager to guide us. Loved the hospitality. Felt like a homestay. If I ever visit Kazbegi again I'll stay in the same place no doubt.
The hotel is new and perfectly renovated, rooms big and nice with private balconies and views. I loved the mountain kazbegi view from my windows, it’s amazing. All restaurants around, just couple min to walk. They also have backyard and tables, so you can enjoy with your coffee or glass of wine sitting out in a fresh air. Absolutely recommend to stay there. Great location, close to the centre, with a great view on Kazbegi from the main terrace. It was a real pleasure to stay at Rustaveli, the rooms and bathroom are renovated and clean. The hosts are extremely helpful, if you need a taxi they will pick you up for affordable price. Thank you very much. For sure that was so far the best place we stayed in Georgia !

We stayed at Hotel Horizon for three nights. Staff was SUPER friendly and supportive to all our requests. Beautiful building with great views of the mountains surrounding Kazbegi, and they probably offered the biggest breakfast I’ve ever seen! Will definitely stay here again if given the opportunity to return to the area :)
Hotel Axien was recommended to me by my friend and it has good value. also ,it has the best location and good prices. It is very close to the center, there are markets, pharmacies and banks around. I liked it very much, I also recommend it to other friends because it is a very good place to spend time in Kazbegi.
The Rooms hotel is the best hotel in Georgia to be honest since the decorations makes you feel so comfortable and the lighting. The restaurant food is very good to be honest and very reasonable so you don’t need to get out of the hotel and their house wine one of the best wine. Available parking.
Cheap but great room with private bathroom and balcony. Riverside Kazbegi offers more than the properties for the similar price offer in Georgia. It's a gem. Plus, they have English speaking staff/family and offer free tea/coffee as an added bonus.
