Very good location. Some staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. Especially those that worked later in the day. (I arrived late and tired and appreciated the kindness of the evening reception staff

Our room was comfortable, well appointed and clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Overall, the Hotel is in a good, central location and staff at check in and check out were helpful and courteous.

We have stayed at the Ashley and the parent hotel, Arundel House, many times over the past 20 years.
The Ashley is well located for our requirements with a good car park. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. As others have noted, the building exterior is looking rather tired. Inside is much better. We try to stay in the same room each visit, but have also used three other rooms. All were clean and comfortable, but the hotel suffers from a silly lack of routine maintenance. In each room we have used, there were windows that do not open because they are stuck, or have broken catches or missing sashcords. Some of these faults I had reported many years ago, but they still exist. The breakfast rooms have now been refurbished to a very good standard. Breakfast there is always good.

The reason for my journey to Waterbeach was to visit some friends so I didnt do any sight seeing. It is a pleasant village, with everything you would need very close by - a post office, pharmacy, grocery shops, two pubs, and even a takeaway. ~Waterbeach would be a great base for sightseeing though - it has bus stops in the village and a major line train station just a few mins flat walk away from the centre of the village. Cambridge is just one stop away!
I ate at the Whitehorse pub - I had a fantastic meal there.
We did experience a little difficulty actually finding the property but that may be due to the fact that we were walking from Cambridge to Waterbeach and not that good with maps. However, we were quickly made very welcome and provided with an upgraded room which was lovely and very comfortable.
The host Lisa is very warm and friendly and provides a wonderful breakfast, and a great place to stay with stylish décor.. The location is ideal for Cambridge and Ely, with plenty of attractions nearby. And a bonus 2 pubs with great food within a very short walking distance.
Very good facilities in comfortable and exceptionally clean rooms with tasteful decor and a nice personalised feel compared to often sterile hotels. Plenty of parking so a very easy stay indeed and well located to visit friends in the Cambridgeshire countryside.
