Really enjoyed our stay here, everything was lovely, really clean and spacious room. The restaurant/ pub had tasty food and outside seating to catch the sun. There is a bus stop directly opposite with regular buses into Keswick. Lots of walking routes as well. Couldn’t recommend enough!

Comfortable interiors, fab location- bus stops outside, delicious food, friendly and attentive staff especially the kind South African guy who checked me in when I booked last minute and v late on Monday night.
The hotel, staff and food exceeded our expectations.
The hotel, staff and food exceeded our expectations. Real ale was well kept and a bonus. The highlight of the afternoons were the RAF jets flying up the valley at tree top hight. People would wait for their arrival.

The scenery is stunning!
The scenery is stunning! Shame about the closeness of the road to our bedroom window!
A cooked breakfast would be an improvement! The room was tiny! I did have another 3 days booked for the end of September but cancelled after our stay! Find somewhere different to eat other than The Kings Head which isn’t as good as they make out!

Gateway to both the Northern and Southern lakes.
Gateway to both the Northern and Southern lakes. A lot of good restaurants in the general area, but book early if in a large group . Hoards of people so visit important places early e.g. Castlerigg stone circle is MUCH better if you're the only group there. You can feel its 4500 years age. Book steam ferries before you go otherwise availability might be low. Ask prices at tea rooms before buying. We paid £33 for seven teas/coffees.

Thirlmere is out in the country, not in the rush of the general tourist population. It is easy to reach Keswick and Ambleside and delightful to come back to the peace.
The King's Head just down the road produces good food.
The countryside is majestic and inviting.
The whole property was homey, just what we wanted for a relaxing stay away from the city. We loved the full English breakfast served by the house owner herself. We felt very welcomed by Jean.
The home has a very traditional British and homey feel to it. The location is a perfect retreat as it is located at a scenic, accessible and quiet location. It’s in between Keswick and Ambleside. Plus the thirlmere infinity pool and waterfall is just a hike away which can actually be seen from our bedroom window.
A lovely overnight stay in this cozy farmhouse close to Thirlmere at the foot of the Dodds.
The landlady was friendly and welcoming and my room was very comfortable and had everything I needed. I particularly liked the fresh milk in the fridge and the Thelwell loo seat 😆
The tasty full English breakfast in a traditional dining room setting was perfect for setting me up for the day.
Just a 10 minute walk to the nearby pub and then on a little further to Thirlmere itself.
Beautiful place completely gorgeous with a nice few hikes really close by to the hotel. bus straight out the front taking you to the somewhat nearby towns - Peter (i believe) the manager/owner was absolutely amazing, didn’t see him stop working and running around the whole time i was staying here, my hat goes off to him truly. very hard work and so hospitable, couldn’t do enough to ensure comfort for everyone staying there! thank you
The location is in the middle of two towns, so literally on the highway. But it has great views.
Both towns Keswick and Ambelside are a 20 mins drive. So it's important to have a car if you plan to stay here.
Food is good, though the menu is limited. The outside seating has great views.
There are treks nearby the hotel, though I couldn't do any, but the trail started just behind the hotel.
All staff friendly and professional. Great food and accommodation in perfect accommodation & location. Really nice to have a fully served breakfast rather than the buffet shambles you get in most hotels! Plus very tasty evening meals. Thanks to all the team for a great stay.
it was very nice and quiet, the bunks were Cozy, the manager of the property was very kind and put on the fire for me before she left. The barn is also easily accessible via bus, which makes the lakes and scenic hiking routes easily accessible as well.
Staff went the extra mile for us, Making sure we had everything required, breakfast was very good, dinner at the sister hotel The Kings Head was superb and just along the road. And what can I say about the location ' just beautiful' and so peaceful.
In walking distance of a pub for food and drink, walks could be taken from the hotel, bus stop pretty much outside the hotel, in between 2 decent towns, super friendly and helpful staff
What a delightful place to stay! A working farm with lambing about to start, Helvellyn above for a great day's walk, Thirlmere below and well worth exploring. A breath of fresh air.

Great little licensed coffee shop open till 9pm!
The host was really lovely and hospitable. She was very knowledgeable about the local region and gave us some good tips when planning our days in Thirlmere.
