Everything was perfect, I was lucky to get a room upgrade.
The host was super friendly.
Amazing view from the room.
Breakfast excellent.
Also the surroundings. Practically 1 min to the sea. I fully recommend it.

We just had Tea and coffee and ate out locally, but we were not expecting any breakfast so we were fine with this, as there was no breakfast specified on our booking

You need to book well in advance if you want to watch the Black Cats at the stadium of light! There is a nice railway connection to nearby Seaham if you want to visit. You can walk along the Wear through a sculpture park and the city centre is excellent for cheap food and drink.

Sunderland was good, but if you want 4* service at 4* prices don't go to The Grand. Only pub food and you make your own bed and carry out own room service. REALLY NOT ON.
Good point, staff lovely and very helpful

Everything the people were generous in there attitude towards visitors there was plenty to do and visit public transport was readily available prices across the board were comparable to normal residential areas unusual for a top tourist attraction
Very lovely hotel, well taken care of. Didnt communicate with staff much but when i did it was excellent. The room was spotless and fresh smelling. plenty of linens available. Room service was great, quick and very delicious, high quality food, the fries are especially recommended. Coffee and milk supplies could have been a bit better, only 2 cups worth, but im sure i would have got more had i requested it prior to arrival.
AA Sunderland defrauded me, the hotel doesn't exist, after booking a room with AA Sunderland, a day before my check in the hotel was asking for more additional £50. On the check in day, I called multiple times and no one answered, even when I emailed, I got no reply.
Luckily for me, I used Paypal, after investigating the matter, Paypal refunded me in full.
Please beware, AA Sunderland is fraud.
Booked this hotel as we were going to football match but also wanted to revisit places from my childhood. It’s 53 years since I’ve been back to Sunderland and staying at this hotel made the trip
Excellent value for money, very clean and comfortable
Added bonus was the craft beer in the bar.
Breakfast was also excellent
Would definitely recommend a stay here
perfect location! just a few minutes walk from Sunderland empire, where we were seeing a show. I had the best nights sleep the bed was so comfortable and the pillows were perfect. hotel staff were very friendly and the hotel was spotlessly clean. I would definitely choose this hotel again.
It was a clean and cosy little hotel. Diana was super friendly and went out of her way to make sure our stay was the best. Even had milk bread cereal in the kitchen for us to have a little breakfast before we left if we wanted. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in Sunderland.
This was the worst experience ever I went to the hotel after booking and paying for it got to the door and they refuse me at my entry they told me that I needed to pay more money on WhatsApp and if I didn't they would not let me in they left me out in the cold all night disgusting
The hotel was lovely. The menu and food were great and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly.
The room was large and the bed was extremely comfortable. Despite two parties going on that night we weren't disturbed by noise at all and slept really well ☺️
Having participated in the GNR, the hotel allowed guests who’d stayed the night before, to leave their car in the car park and return for a shower. This generosity was greatly appreciated and would be enough to make me stay again if I ever return to Sunderland.
My Husband was a patient in Sunderland Eye Infirmary, we had to stay over night as we had travelled from Cumbria & your hotel was recommended by the A&E receptionist. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff & fantastic location.
The location is great, the views of the shipyard/sea was great. Its a great base for Sunderland/Roker Pier/Travel to Newcastle/Northumberland. The apartment was spacious and has a good layout/amenities inside.
Location and accommodation were fabulous, spotlessly clean and so quiet compared to the normal hustle and bustle you get with Hotels.
If I were to return to Sunderland this will be my new go to destination.
Everything that we needed for a comfortable stay was supplied in the apartment. The apartment was easy to find and was conveniently located for Sunderland city centre and for outlying attractions.
Convenience when visiting family - we have stayed the hotel on and off for 25 years but more recently used the Hilton Gardens at Stadium of light because it is "fresher" and normally cheaper.
The hotel is probably the best placed in Sunderland.
The Inn / pub below is very nice but tees you up for a bit of a let down once you get to the rooms.
Balcony / views are excellent.
really nice clean modern hotel. great room and en-suite. staff very helpful without being pushy. location overlooking the beach is fantastic near cafes and a supermarket
the decor was way above standard, by far the most homely hotel I’ve stayed in, it’s a must for people travelling to Sunderland wanting to be located next to the beach
The location was great, just a stone throw from the city centre. The shower's water pressure was fab and the bed was comfy. It met our needs for what we paid.
