Nothing was too much travel. The General Manager was exceptional. Location albeit remote was exactly what we were looking for.
The Strontian Hotel offers guests a luxurious bed and breakfast experience on the banks of Loch Sunart.

The location, owner and facilities were brilliant. Lovely breakfast and a really friendly but well mannered dog.
Fantastic walks in the area. Very helpful owner Mary. Would love to go back but bedding needs to be upgraded

Beautiful location where you can wander a bit in the gardens or near the loch with view of lighthouse and Castle Stalker! Has its own restaurant with great food with a view of the loch. Quiet. We had a cottage and it was a very good size, essentially a small house. Even had a washer/dryer combo. Outdoor space. No neighbor to look at or look in your windows. Very beautiful area. Would stay again and recommend, with some caveats.

As everyone says - ran by a lovely couple. Very welcoming of our little one and just a nice vibe.
Breakfast was also delicious every morning.
Liked · Just the view.!!!!
Didn't like · The reception was very modest, and with the 3rd sentence I was already asked to pay for my stay in advance.
The room, called SUNART Suite, was not worth the price.
It was practically unheated, the radiators could not be operated. In all other hotels on this trip it was possible. Then after a few hours the heaters warmed up to a lukewarm state, but only for a short time. The heated towel rail in the bathroom only worked in the bottom third and could not be used. In order to go to the dining room, you had to leave the main building so that you could get to the restaurant.
I can describe the food as very good.
In this part, too, it was rather uncomfortably cold until the window was closed after complaints from some guests.

Strontian is so well placed for visiting this beautiful area of Scotland. It’s at the head of the quiet Ardnamuchan peninsula and within a short drive from iconic places such as Fort William and Mallaig. The area is simply wonderful for wildlife enthusiasts who want a relaxing, peaceful and mindful experience.

Lots to do in Strontian.
Lots to do in Strontian. Good walks in Ariundle forest reserve, plus swimming in the Strontian river there. Beaches on the loch for swimming and boating. It looked as if there was some lovely mountain walking but we weren't there long enough. Kilcamb hotel very nice for dinner.

Do not go till the Pandemic is past, but when safe again, it is beautiful, on the glorious loch, very good, well supplied and friendly shops and cafe. Good hotels, B&Bs, excellent food in many places. Walking paradise, canoeing and sailing, heavenly scenery.

Love the location and views , rooms comfortable and dog friendly but lacking that attention to detail that it used to have.
Spent first half hour ringing receiption for things I would normally expect to be in the room without asking, ie tea/coffee tray , iron and ironing board.
Paid extra for the seven course taster menu and was sadly disappointed with the standard, pasta to thick , duck dish like a Chinese take away , fish course poor .
We have visited Kilcamb many times over the past 12 years but having also stayed in similar priced hotels in Scotland now find Kilcamb over priced and not the exceptional hotel it used to be.

The place is remote but with a number of different holiday homes around. The shop is a few miles away near the oban ferry crossing. The place was great, log fire, shared shower and another wc. Kitchen has the usual utencils plus a washing machine and huge cooker. there are some lovely walks nearby and the star gazing.excellent. There is a dive centre nearby (although I didn't try it) and it is possible to do a day trip to mull. For me, I would recommend the nearby old castle walk and finding some unspoilt cove. The three rooms in the main bunk house have bunkbeds which are a but rickity but do the job.
I found the other people staying like minded and avoiding the late summer busyness elsewhere. I would recommend it.
Graham is the best host I have ever experienced in my many travels. We arrived late at the hotel because the ferry is broken (this was an inconvenience because we were traveling with a baby) and he received us with a warm welcome and lots and lots of food because everything had already closed. He was super nice the next day too and cooked a Greta Scottish breakfast for us. If you read this Graham thank you for the Scottish welcome, is indeed nice to be nice!!
Graham! We loved Graham…he was a fabulous host. Very friendly and welcoming with a huge sense of humour. He even made the dogs a doggie breakfast in the morning!
The setting was wonderful- very peaceful and remote. The food was lovely. The bar was unlicensed, but that was fine, we’d brought our own. A friendly hotel. Not pristine, but the welcome far outweighed that.
Very clean, nice airy room, excellent bathroom with modern shower and enough space, quiet neighbourhood, tasty breakfast, very good restaurant in Strontian. Location is good to travel to either Fort William/ Glencoe region or towards Isle of Skye, beautiful area with lots of Lochs and Glens
Could not fault this charming little guest house. Nestled in the beautiful hills surrounding Strontian, you will be hard pushed to find a more relaxing spot. Paul & Lorna were excellent and hospitable from welcome to goodbye. I would stay here again in a heart beat.
Graham is a character and a real sweetheart. He’s very knowledgeable about the area, loves Otis Redding and Elvis, and is a great cook. It was raining during my whole stay, so I spent a lot of cozy time at the hotel. I was made to feel very welcome and comfortable.
The house is in an extraordinarely beautiful location but not the easiest place to get to (only the first time ☺️). A very nice guesthouse near Strontian. Paul and Lorna are lovely hosts. The breakfast was absolutely delicious in a lovely dining room.
What an amazing location, what a lovely hotel, what wonderful dining. This is a really special place. There is so much to do around the area, ie walking, animal and bird watching. The hotel is set in a peaceful setting and the staff are the best.
The location - Strontian - is extremely beautiful and the house is only a few minutes' walk away from both the shops (and information centre) in one direction and the Ariundle Nature Research (and tea rooms) in the others.
The view from the front of the hotel is amazing, looking out over Loch Sunart. The location is good for exploring in all directions on the peninsulas. Breakfast was good as was dinner in The Bothy Bar.
Not the easiest place to get to but a very nice guesthouse near Strontian. Paul and Lorna are lovely hosts and helped us with making diner arrangements. Will visit again when in the region.
With the continuing failure of the Corran ferry it is a long journey but worth making the effort. The hotel is very comfortable, staff friendly and food good.
