A charming authentic pub with a lovely coal fire to add to the feel. The room was great and the bed was very comfortable. There was a good selection of hearty pub food and the morning breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly. The owner came over while we were in the bar to welcome us and have a chat which was lovely.

The hotel is in a glorious setting. It had a luxurious feel. Our ground floor room was stunning. Breakfast and dinner were very good though we enjoyed dinner very much it was costly which could put us off staying longer. That said Bed and Breakfast was fairly priced and the staff is a credit to the hotel. The receptionist was warm and welcoming and this was consistent throughout the hotel. We had a special stay.

The purpose of our stay was to be close to the Beamish Museum.
Beamish working museum was amazing and would highly recommend; it has lots of interesting areas to visit. The staff were knowledgeable and very helpful. There was regular transport to get you around the site. Plenty of food stations and places to rest. Beamish is a must and still adding more interesting historical attractions. The fish and chips are a must, you could buy a smaller portion called a Dab - more than enough; cooked in traditional beef dripping which brought some memories. A fabulous trip down memory lane. Remember to charge your mobile as there are lots of pictures to be taken.
We visited a pub called The Blue Bell, with Turkish cuisine which was very tasty. Nicely decorated, and warm and inviting. Staff very friendly.
The Ball Alley was situated in a great spot to enable to easily access Beamish, it was also situated near a garage & shop.
There is much more to visit if you check out local attractions but we had to be off early to get home.

The location was stunning, and I would love to return in the summer to see the garden in colour. This would add to the grandness of the setting.
Inside the adaption to a hotel was tasteful and sensitive, the rooms had the height and elegance of a grand hotel. The windows seat in our room added to its charm.
Initially, the access to the restaurant was unusual, crossing the courtyard, but soon realised this was a necessity for the stables and hall to be kept true to their architectural original plan.
As we were at a wedding at the South Causey this was a perfect location for us - could actually walk from the venue back to the hotel. Shop juts opposite in the petrol station was also very handy! Room was nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Every thing, lovely hotel, friendly staff, great choice of food reasonably priced, great breakfast. Room (courtyard) was very clean and comfortable. Will definitely recommend and will return
We wanted to visit the Beamish Open-air Museum and the hotel is not far away. The staff were very helpful and attentive. There is lots of easy parking on-site.
