John was exceptionally attentive and helpful when I had a bronchitis and was considering seeking medical care. That was before I ever reached his property. My daughter and I were offered two rooms, both spacious, and well appointed there were a variety of snacks, yogurts, and drinks available in each room. Southend which is about a 20 minute walk from the cottage is a very quiet sleepy village with one central store that has an amazing tearoom selling fantastic cakes.
For a busier place you would need to head up to Campbeltown which has a high street, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants and is 8 miles from the cottage.

Southend is a very small Hamlet
There are some historic places to visit as well as a couple of lovely beaches to walk along or risk a paddle in the sea .
Local Seal population is healthy and like to sunbathe on rocks at Tourist Parking area.
You MUST try the Muneroy Tea Rooms on the village, their range of cakes is amazing as are the portions. The Tea Room itself is a step back in time to a more relaxed and peaceful time where you can sit and enjoy good food and company.
If you do fancy a bit of adventure and seeing a bit of the area off road then there is a local Horse Riding facility - Wilder Ways, they will happily arrange for you to get out in the local area on horseback for even better views of the countryside.

It's a great place, it definitely does feel like the end of...
It's a great place, it definitely does feel like the end of Kintyre but embrace the trip down the A83 - a real stunner of a road. Lovely beaches, quiet seclusion, good walks, lots of wildlife and stunning sunsets.
