A lovely B&B, nicely decorated and in a great location at the bottom of town not far off the main street and close to several pubs and cafes. Clean and comfortable room, however two flights of stairs to the top floor can be a challenge for the elderly with luggage. Car parking available is a bonus but the limited spaces mean the hosts have to shuffle cars around which we didn't find to be a problem.

Shrewsbury is the epitome of a medieval English city that's kept up with modern conveniences and entertainment. Everything is within easy walking distance. And do NOT pass up the charming museum showcasing Shrewsbury's history all the way back to Neolithic times. The Tudor architecture positively teems, and the character of the people and surroundings make you feel transported to another time, whilst having contemporary amenities. Don't forget the excellent pubs like The Castle Vaults, Joules, and others!

More to Shrewsbury than we anticipated. Don't miss the prison but check if you are eligible for any discounts (-20% for English Heritage Members, for instance). Lots of places for good food but note that many don't serve food after 7pm on Sundays.

To be honest, we made Shrewsbury a stop off point as we travelled to Wales for a weeks cottage holiday. We stopped on the 'way down' and on the 'way back', to break up long journeys.
However, from our two half days in Shrewsbury it looks like a place for longer stays. The museum and art gallery were very interesting. The shopping areas were very good, with a good mix of larger names (M&S, Sea Salt, White Stuff ...) and independents. There were many eating places, but obviously we weren't able to make use of all but two in the town, both of which were very good.
It looks like a place we will return to!

Shrewsbury is a great town to visit which we do several times a year. Summer time is definitely worth a visit but we go all year round and always enjoy ourselves. Full of history, quirky hotels, bars and restaurants and great for shopping. Umai restaurant is outstanding for us food always delicious. A trip on the river boat highly recommended. Several places to park all within a short distance of the centre.

The town is packed full of historic beautiful biuldings Riverside walk is an absolute must... Town centre to Castlefields especially. The Abbey, castle , and lots of one off shops. Hidden in nooks and crannies are such delights as the old post office the old prison and boutiques.
Don't miss The Dingle gardens as you take the walk.
My friend from Australia and I met up for a couple of days. I chose this hotel for its location which was excellent. All the staff in the hotel were wonderful, friendly and very helpful. The rooms were lovely and had everything that we needed, we loved the extra touches of bottles of water and biscuits with the coffee and tea making facilities. I would highly recommend this hotel and I will be returning soon with my husband.
The hotel was lovely and a great location, around a 10 minute drive into Shrewsbury town centre (even used a taxi that was fairly cheap). The staff we saw were nice and had no issue with us checking in later than expected. The room was very clean and had a lovely bed and bathroom, tv included and also free Wi-Fi which was great! Would definitely stay again.
The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the breakfast was excellent. The location really convenient. The hotel was excellent value for money. Within 30 minutes of checking out I received a phone call telling me I'd left my phone charger behind, so was able to retrieve it before going home.
Location in fields just on the Northern Edge of Shrewsbury is extremely peaceful. Rooms were furnished with 2 chairs as well as a bed. (If you want to lie on the bed in front of a giant TV, this isn't for you.) Despite the room being in a modern building its didn't feel like a chain hotel,
Everything was wonderful, the service was fantastic, the location was stunning, the food was amazing and the room had every comfort you could wish for. Top find and I hope to be able to return, would definitely say this was a strong recommendation for anyone visiting Shrewsbury
The communication with Steve was excellent. Everything was laid out perfectly. The location was just right, only a 10 minute walk into the town centre. The flat itself was beautiful, far better than any hotel room.
We will definitely use it again when we return to Shrewsbury.
Excellent location for what we wanted.
Idea for a trip to Shrewsbury, West Wales and maybe Portmeirion.
Better than any hotel, better value for money for business or leisure.
It’s even got free on street parking right outside the door.
Easy walk into the town centre.
So glad I have found this hotel for my business trips to Shrewsbury. A beautiful property and well put together rooms. Particularly enjoyed the communal areas (garden, breakfast conservatory, residents' honesty bar). Staff are extremely welcoming and friendly.
Hotel was very modern and clean. Beds were comfortable and the location was perfect as we were close to everything! Called the number provided by the hotel and staff seemed very polite and helpful, such an easy check in and check out process too.
Everything was excellent...location ,breakfast and very courteous staff. We especially liked the welcome glass of sherry on arrival. We would certainly recommend the prince Rupert Hotel to anyone visiting Shrewsbury.
The food and friendly staff made this a lovely stay. The room itself was really comfy and well equipped.
The location of the hotel is brilliant to get into a variety of attractions in Shrewsbury.
Bed was very comfortable and room was quiet so slept well. The breakfast was tasty and staff very welcoming and helpful. If ever visiting Shrewsbury again, we would return to this hotel.
Breakfast was very good and the setting is lovely. We ate in the restaurant which was very nice and welcome as the hotel itself is quite a way out of Shrewsbury.
The hotel is central in Shrewsbury and the room was spacious. The food was amazing we had cooked breakfast both mornings and had a meal on one of the evenings .
Great river view from our room and comfortable bed. Wonderful food (exceptionally good dinner). Friendly staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
