The cottage is ideally situated for walks over the moors (fells). A little ways outside of Sedberg, but within walking distance. Very quiet area, beautiful green, rolling hills, wild flowers, the river with it's ancient stone bridge.
Good food at the Red Lion pub in Sedberg. And nextdoor neighbour was very helpful in calling ahead to book us a table, as we arrived near to time meals finished.
Cottage totally delightful. Everything very well maintained. Nice well-appointed living room with dining area off to side. Power reclining couches.
Clean, well-equipped kitchen. Including washing machine (clothes drying rack in closet under stairs) plenty of dishes and cook-ware. Nice big kettle and teapot. Milk, teabags, coffee and cookies all ready and waiting.
Two nice, comfortable bedrooms with both medium and light quilts. Extra pillows ( feather) available in closet.
Back bedroom gorgeous views of the hillside where sheep and lambs were grazing.
Bathroom again clean and well equipped (auto light on mirror had us stumped the first night) Large bathtub with great water pressure, and hot shower.
Lots of information booklets available. Information about cottage and of nearby walks and hikes in black folder. NB We didn't read the last paragraph about turning off the outside lights at night, until our third night. So our apologies to the neighbours.
Three areas of outdoor seating all of which we availed ourselves. Many different species of birds at the bird feeder in back yard.........including a pheasant, who thought he could maintain his balance on feeder-well he couldn't!
Parking was good after first attempt.

Great staff, comfy bed, lovely breakfast. Good atmosphere and nice pub for a few pints. Staff went out of their way to make sure we got our bags delivered as was doing a baggage transfer for the dales way. I really enjoyed our stay.
Great for walking, plenty of choice straight from Sedburgh.
Great for walking, plenty of choice straight from Sedburgh. There are a number of places to choose to eat from, we ate at Smatts Duo Cafe which we thoroughly enjoyed, this cafe welcomes dogs a must for us and had a coffee at the Dog Gun coffee shop another dog friendly spot. We had an evening meal at the Red Lion, again very dog friendly and tasty food.

A pleasant town located on edge of Yorkshire dales and 20 miles from the lakes. Good location for walkers , beautiful villages ( Dent etc ) and river walks are nearby, also a superb craft mill & arts centre with weaving , quilting , wood turning and cafe.
Local shops in the town, very good chippy , butchers , grocers , the major supermarkets are in Kendal ( 20 mins car ). Excellent 2 bed property , massive comfy beds and vey good self catering facilities. The local produce was so good we ate in , but there are 3 pub/inns serving a range of meals within 10 minutes walk.
Very quiet especially at night though look out for low flying military planes in the afternoon ! Well suited to older couples , hikers and walkers but also for a family. We loved the place and want to go back again soon.

Gorgeous area, plenty of exploring to neighbouring towns and villages.
Tons of walks, short or long, beautiful village, but closes by 4pm. Gorgeous pubs but get booked in advance chippy with a cafe, owners away when we visited so it was closed, but we've been before and the food is great.
Good restaurants just outside the area, ie Barbon Restaurant and bar food. Another gorgeous little area around and about

The village is lovely.
The village is lovely. School is stunning, amazing views and walks. Limited places to eat that are not fine dining (about £30 per head) or a very basic pub. Italian restaurant has closed until further notice. Convenient SPAR with a reasonable range.
Lovely little farm cottage type accommodation. Cosy and warm, well equipped kitchen, loved the log burner on the dark winter evening when we stayed.
The village of Milthrop is really pretty and quiet but an easy walk to Sedbergh for shops cafes and restaurants. We ate at the Black Bull and are vegan, we loved it and would highly recommend, it is not the cheapest option but well worth it, very special. We walked to Dent and back on our second day which was great.
Really quaint cottage in a beautiful hamlet just outside of Sedbergh. Really lovely decorated, really cozy and comfy. The beds were so comfy, the terrace area was a lovely feature and I particularly enjoyed having a coffee in the bath and enjoying the countryside view! Really helpful info pack with lots of leaflets for things to do in the surrounding areas, we picked a trip to visit the red Squirrels!
Delightful place with everything you need for a week, very kind landlord, brilliant location to go for a hike in the Yorkshire Dales or in the Lake District. A quiet place, all you hear in the morning are the birds and occasionally some sheep. Very nice walk into Sedbergh, which is a typical Yorkshire small town (although it lies in Cumbria) in a very pretty landscape, or a stroll along the river.
The Folly was perfect. We arrived tired after hiking on the Dales Way for 4 days. We chose Sedbergh and Folly to stay for 2 nights to relax and recoup. The Folly is very comfortable. It is right in the middle of everything. It was clean, comfortable, and a cool little space. Everything was perfect. We especially enjoyed grabbing dinner at the Haddock Paddock next door.
this is such a lovely place. I've stayed twice with my partner and both times have been amazing. Comfy beds, well stocked, decorated so nicely. Loved it! And the chippy nearby is the best chippy I've ever had haha. We drove from here to lake Windermere for a day out and it was a lovely drive. It was just a really really lovely stay.
gorgeous scenery, easy access to Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, clean, comfy, modern yet old ambiance, sheep and lambs so fun to watch scampering across the hill behind house, very well equipped. Would love to stay longer than one night. We had a cosy fire in the wood burner. Great shower. Great beds.
What a brilliant little cottage. I stayed with my friend and we both took our dogs with us. The stone floor was great as the dogs couldn't destroy anything. The cottage is located in a quiet hamlet and the nearest town is Sedbergh. There were some fantastic walks which the dogs especially loved.
Anna was the perfect host, the accommodation was pure luxury, the quality of the beds and the bedding was as good if not better than a hotel. the location was so peaceful with stunning views. Absolutely excellent breakfast which was presented beautifully, would highly recommend a stay here.
Excellent location in Sedbergh, easy to find, and despite having no car park itself it was only a very short walk to the nearest one. Food was excellent and copious, the staff attentive and courteous, we couldn’t have asked for a more pleasant and relaxing stay.
Rooms were lovely and the Hypnos beds were really very comfortable. The glass walled bathrooms were stylish and unique. The non-kids evening meal was really tasty. The staff were extremely pleasant. Overall, a really nice hotel.
Jacky and George were amazing hosts, lovely little cottage in Sedbergh. Home away from home, with a furry little surprise outside on our last day (you really do need that squirrel food!).. Will definitely be returning :-)
Wonderful property in a quiet location close to Sedbergh. Clean and very comfortable. Modern shower/bathroom, kitchen appliances all looked new - though we didn’t use the kitchen as we were only staying 1 night.
Extremely well equipped, comfortable accommodation in a quiet convenient location. Right on the Dales way…perfect for a group of 4 walkers. Host had everything available that we needed. Cozy, and warm.
Lovely country hotel with a great bar and restaurant. Plenty of outdoor seating too. Food was first class. Would certainly stay here again. Hotel is centrally located for the village as well.
