Surrounded by beautiful Suffolk countryside, The Bell Hotel, Saxmundham is a coaching inn in the heart of Saxmundham. It has beautifully decorated rooms, free Wi-Fi and delicious food.

Cheerful welcome by Manager who showed me to my room. Professional and courteous staff, large comfortable clean room, decorated on theme of local coastal village, Thorpeness. Loved the yachts on some of the furnishings. Delicious, well presented dinner and breakfast. Highly recommend.

Very quiet for relaxing break. Very central to Aldeburgh and Southwold. Bus stop near property into Aldeburgh. Nice little secret garden behind studio. Not enclosed but dogs didn’t stray far. Had everything we needed for short break.
Located on the unspoiled Suffolk coast, the Wentworth Hotel is just 66 feet from the beach, and offers free Wi-Fi, private parking and an award-winning restaurant.
Midway between Southwold and Aldeburgh, this modernized, rustic inn has an excellent restaurant and refurbished, stylish rooms. It is an ideal base for exploring the Suffolk Heritage Coast.

We had very comfortable beds and the room was warm. They provided a nice dog bed, treats and towel and our dog was made welcome.

this lovely little village is only a 10 minute drive from Aldeburgh, which makes it perfect to stay for the night!
After 2300 the whole village goes to sleep and it is lovely and silent!
there are a few little shops and plenty of car parking!
The food in the restaurant of the Bell hotel is divine!!
We loved it!

It wasn't exactly run down, just that there wasn't much there. Not helped by the main pub being closed for renovation, but we did have a very good Indian meal at The Prince of Bengal, and a Chinese meal at another pub which was half pub, half restaurant. There is a good-sized Waitrose and a Tesco. Saxmundham is a good centre for getting to other places.

There's really nothing here.
There's really nothing here. The Bell is fine but no attractions mean you are driving way out of town for any sightseeing etc. Even todays market only had 3 stalls.......well, 2 and a chap with some picture frames scattered on the road. Even the local Indian restnt was closed on a Tuesday night.

Nothing to like whatsoever a tired and dreary Town in need of a lick of paint with old tatty bunting still present, probably left over from the Coronation. I was very disappointed what are Council doing to give Saxmundham some kudos??
I wouldn’t rush back under any circumstances.

A very quiet sleepy town.
A very quiet sleepy town. This can have advantages but it was almost 'dead' - several empty shops etc. I hoped for a bigger main square and open ground but there was none. Some fine buildings but not really a picturesque place. Handy though for Aldeburgh.

Saxmundham is a small place - very small.
Saxmundham is a small place - very small. We walked from one end of the high street to the other in about five minutes.
It is OK as a base if you are visiting other places around, but there doesn't seem to be anything actually in Saxmundham other than a few shops (nothing very interesting) and a couple of supermarkets.
The hotel seems to be the only place to eat if you don't want kebabs or fish and chips.
Lovely, clean and modern B&B - perfect for a short stay in Saxmundham with a 15-minute walk or short drive into the town centre. Host Ana was very welcoming and friendly with lots of info regarding where to eat out and how to get there! She provided a substantial gluten-free continental breakfast suitable for my coeliac condition. I was hesitant about booking at first as the only room available had a shared bathroom but this wasn't a problem as there was a toilet/basin downstairs that was also available to guests.
Lovely rural location but not too far away from Saxmundham, thoughtful welcome Basket on arrival, spacious and well presented accommodation, we actually spent all of our time using the garden and kitchen, at night playing card games around the kitchen table, so didn't actually use the amazing cinema size TV in the very comfortable looking lounge.
Neighbours were friendly and welcoming too, had a great stay and would highly recommend
Opening just 2 weeks ago we were welcomed with Christmas wishes. Recent renovation, though incomplete has been well done. Looking forward to the finished lodging and dining. Clearly this "rebirth" of the Bell Hotel will lead to it being the social center of Saxmundham.
Well done Ashley and Team!
It is in an excellent position, and good arrangements have been made for car parking.
Having an elevator in some of these old “country” hotels can be a rarity, so we were glad the Bell’s renovation included one!
We also very much enjoyed our evening meal.
Purpose of the visit was to visit Sutton Hoo and explore locally. Location was perfect. Visited Snape Malting, Aldeburgh, (of note the Moot Hall and churchyard), Saxmundham, Sizewell beach amongst others. Recommend the Long Shop Museum in Leiston.
A very comfortable self catering cottage close to the town centre of Saxmundham and very close to the railway station. It provided easy access to other parts of Suffolk and Norfolk. The cottage had a very quiet sunny courtyard.
A lovely little property in Saxmundham which was ideal as a base for the local area.
Very well equipped and despite being cautious because of a very negative review, we were very pleasantly surprised how nice the property was
Little honey pot is clean, modern and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. In a great location only a few minutes drive from Saxmundham for shopping and close to lots of great places to visit both inland and at the coast.
Good location but no restaurants currently open in Saxmundham. The Bell Hotel is closed until the autumn for modernisation.
The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped.
The suite was comfortable. The full breakfast was disappointing but freshly cooked dishes were good. Dinner was good but below par for such a nice hotel.
