Sarum College, hotel in Salisbury

Located a few steps from Salisbury Cathedral, Sarum College offers 2-star accommodations in Salisbury and has a garden.

I LOVED our lodging at Sarum College, and felt like I found an extraordinarily-delightful secret place with others 'in the know.' The amazing breakfast, simple but spacious and clean room (& our room's sitting room and bathroom!), location (right in town, with everything in Salisbury that we wanted to explore within a few blocks, and a comfortable drive to both Avesbury and Stonehenge; due to its central proximity, we were even surprisingly able to fit in a few hours in Bath before heading to Windsor), affordability, and facilities/grounds were ideal! Fabulous Justine graciously guided us on-site with seamless check-in/out, easy-parking, and all our questions, and communication before we arrived was equally clear & impressive. Situated directly across a quiet road from the Cathedral, I truly felt like I was in sacred peaceful relaxing space. The fact that our lodging/stay's costs were directly supporting Sarum College and all its associated worthy non-profit projects was indeed icing on the cake: I hope to someday return for a longer hiatus at Sarum College.

What Guests Said About Salisbury:

Salisbury is a very good location for a holiday in the UK.

Salisbury is a very good location for a holiday in the UK. Within the immediate area of the city there is an impressive cathedral (which houses a copy of Magna Carta) and the ruins of Old Sarum. A little further afield, there is the famous Stonehenge World Heritage Site which is very much worth a visit. The city itself is easy to get around - much of it is walkable and there is a good bus service. Due to its rail links, Salisbury can also be used as a base for exploring the wider area. Regular trains run to locations throughout Wiltshire, Dorset and Hampshire.

St Thomas Becketts Church was a wonderful surprise with the late 15thc paintings. The walking tour of Salisbury with a registered guide was excellent and i would definitely recommend it. The docents in the cathedral were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. More importantly you could ask any question of them and they would endeavour to answer it.

It is a town full of interest - museums, The Cathedral and close, Montpesson House and many more. It has a wide range of shops, cafes and interesting old buildings, full of history. It is easy to walk round. We especially enjoy Elizabeth Gardens and the water meadows to Harnham. The centre is so busy, best taken in small doses. The market square is important to see, especially on market day - and a new department store.

Everthing is within walking distance shops, cathedral etc and there are plenty of places to eat. Furthermore, as this is an old medieval town there are lots of pubs ! so plenty of choice of breweries and food ! Its also based on a grid system so very easy to navigate your way around. We did find that the independant shops, market etc are NOT open on Sundays so if you are coming for shopping make sure you come Monday to Saturday or you will be disappointed ! Our host said when the sun shines Salisbury is the best place to be and with a choice of over 5 rivers you could walk along bathed in sunshine I would agree !

Beautiful city. Amazing old streets and buildings. Small enough to explore on foot. Plenty of places to enjoy food and drink. The Cathedral is stunning. Plenty of independent shops. Nice green open spaces. Lovely for a couple of days.

Go to city visitor center, very helpful.

Go to city visitor center, very helpful. Pretty town, every place walkable. Visit Stonehenge in afternoon, lot less people. Old Sarum was hard to get to and not marked well from bus stop. Magna Carta might not be worth the fee to many.

Great and spacious car park and they allowed me to leave my car before check in so I was able to explore. Great location, just a few minutes walk to the Cathedral. Lovely decor and great vibe throughout the hotel. We stayed here because our friends were having their wedding reception here so it made it really handy. Also a really nice touch that we got free drinks coupons when we checked in which was lovely as we were able to enjoy a nice drink. Staff were really friendly too.

The hotel was perfectly situated within walking distance of the centre but in a quiet setting next to a river. Breakfast on the terrace was a bonus in the lovely weather. The staff were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The shuttle bus to and from town each evening was really good as there are so many different restaurants to try. As an electric car owner the chargers in the car park was an additional bonus.

One of the best stays we've had anywhere, and we've been very fortunate in our stays over the years. Just lovely & gracious in every single way. A great base for nearby sights (Salisbury, Stonehenge, Highclere Castle, etc.) but I would go back and stay here if it were at the north pole in a blizzard-- beautiful and immaculate room, superb breakfast, really gracious hosts. The best de-stress location I know.

The location is fabulous, of course it is a 1.000 year old building so when you are taler than 1.85 you have to take care of your head on some places. The team is very kind, especially Izzy does a great job. It is a very clean hotel and from the hotel/restaurant you can walk easily to the city centre of Salisbury. Chef Tobias has a high added value to the entire establishment. Compliments!

I've stayed at Caboose before and will return again. For anyone traveling to Salisbury by rail, the location can't be beat. It's a one minute walk from the station, and then just a few minutes walk to the cathedral and all the shops and restaurants. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Rooms are very clean and lovely. Excellent value for money.
